Very special experience: great food; wonderful chefs, delightful and knowledgeable waitstaff, charming and helpful management;... no hype, razzle dazzle, pretense or raucous noise. All charm and great food. One of party had a birthday and the staff helped uscelebrate. One in our party could not eat clams and they sweetly and humorously fixed something else. Prix fixe menu wasexceptional. Fun wine pairings and tasty cocktails. Worth the cost. New location was roomy, stylish and away from traffic. Bestplace on the North Fork and Shelter Island BY FAR. My wife and I loved our experience at 18 Bay. Jimmy, the general manager, greeted us when we first walked in and asked us to... choose an open table, which was perfect for us. I chose to pre purchase a special occasion wine pairing which was a littlepricey but wanted to impress my wife. She loves to try different wines. Jimmy poured each glass and came over to the table togive us a little history of each bottle. He was very knowledgeable and always offered to give her a different wine if she didnot like the one he chose for her. The food was very tasty and satisfying. This is the perfect country restaurant-- beautiful fresh ingredients and inventive dishes, a sweet setting with lovely service.... Not super fancy and very reasonable prices for what you get. In the warmer months nothing beats a table on the porch. Always agreat evening but this is not your place if you're a picky eater because you don't have a lot of choice. Read more
On a scale of 1-10, 18 Bay is an 11! We couldn't decide what was better, the food or the service! The food was AMAZING!... Everything was so fresh and delicious with the dishes getting better and better course by course. With my girlfriend's foodallergies and her being a Vegetarian, we didn't know what to expect but they hit it out of the park and it was seamless! Best meal and experience of our vacation - friendly, yet professional staff, idyllic setting (we sat on the porch), incredible... food (we love making little or no decisions!!), only place I have ever been that every wine is available by the glass(brilliant).
