After living in the area for over 8 eight years, we finally visited this longtime establishment. I wish we hadn't waited so... long. The food was good; we had the pulled pork tacos, the pan seared salmon special, and the sausage and ricotta pizza.Satisfying. So many more menu options sounded appealing it was difficult to choose. The drinks were great; the "new oldfashioned" was a great twist on a favorite classic, and the watermelon jalapeno margarita almost melted my wife's face off. Butthe real draw is the history of the place; it has a truly authentic vibe of a revolutionary era tavern. Will be back and wouldrecommend! Read more

This is a class act facility with plenty of character, charm and atmosphere. The menus draw from traditional Americana and craft... entrees (the concert menu is a trimmed down version of the main restaurant menu). Service is attentive and friendly enough forsuch a large facility. Although there are some rather pricey options available, the menu is large and varied enough for anyone'sbudget to find a tasty landing spot. Everything we saw looked great and everything we had looked and tasted fantastic. A littleout of the way but if you just happen to be passing through Shirley on Rts. 2A or 225 this is where you want to be for dinnerwith that someone special. Very much recommended. Read more

Fantastic for a date night! Natalie was our waitress and she was very attentive and friendly. The food arrived extremely fast,... hot, and delicious. We had the pretzel on special for our appetizer, the turkey panini, pulled pork tacos (also a special) forentrees, and dessert was the espresso martini that is to die for! We were lucky enough to meet the owner, Ali, who was so fullof life and proud of the longevity of The Bull Run (since the 40’s I think she said!). The piano player made the night adream. We will definitely be back. Ps- they have a great space for small events like baby and bridal showers! Read more

One of the most easy-going, friendly, relaxing, and satisfying dining experiences anywhere! The moment you walk in, you feel... welcome. The place is so rustic (been there since 1740) and cozy - low ceilings, wide-plank floors and great decorations. Nowadd a delicious meal of veal pasta and limoncello tiramisu (yes, the greatest combination, ever!) and you are leaving happy. Ialso enjoyed their spin on the classic - they call it the New Old Fashioned. Very potent, yet delicious! They topped it offwith a great piano musician and I know that they also had a Led Zeppelin cover band playing in the back... This is a place youwon't be bored and will leave with a full, happy belly! I wish I could come back, but I was just passing by, so until next time- I'll definitely stop by again. Read more

I absolutely love this place. Their food is delicious!! The location is beautiful, with the bridge over the river in the back..... and the building you eat in was built in 1740 I believe. I got the Prime Rib dinner, it came with a twice baked potato(to diefor), butternut squash, and a pop over. I also got a very yummy appetizer, Italian wine & my date got a few margaritas.Everything so good!! Read more

We just got married here. We are from the area but live in Washington now and wanted to go back for our wedding to avoid the... financial burden of flying and housing our guests. We are BEYOND fortunate to have found Amanda. She was an absolute angel (Itold her that multiple times throughout the evening)! We were able to plan the entire thing from 3k miles away without everhaving met her and it was relatively stress free...she did literally everything!!! Every time I had a question and started tostress her answer was almost always "I'll take care of that". She made our dream wedding possible on our shoe string budget, andwe didn't have to do a thing except show up and have a blast. We got so many compliments on the food, the decor, and thatbeautiful bridge. Amanda...thank you ?? Read more

Quaint, rustic setting with very good service and great food. A staple of the Ayer/Shirley community and beautiful spot for... gatherings. I’ve eaten here several times and am always very pleased. Today we had brunch and it was awesome. If you areanywhere in this neck of the woods, make it a point to visit the Guerico family dining called Bull Run. Read more

The Bull Run is a classic and a gem. The building is SO old and so cool. I highly recommend visiting if for no other reason... than to hang out in a really old building. But also the food from the restaurant is delicious, turkey dinner anyone? All thestaff are dedicated to good service and quite friendly. And, and, and, the Bull Run is a great music venue. Book a table andbring all your friends! If you live in the area, you have no excuse for not visiting and if you don't, it's worth a trip. Read more
