Nadia was the best! When I mentioned that I was on the keto diet, she went through the whole menu with me, showing me what I... could actually have, and what customizations they could make for me. (And they could do a LOT of customizations. Above andbeyond!) The greeter was a little odd though. She greeted us with a "how can I help you?" I just don't think I have ever beenasked that upon walking into a restaurant. I mean... what do I say? You can help me find a table to dine? What else would I bein there for during dinner hours, dressed up with a date? I guess I'm used to the more common "do you have a reservation" or"how many in your group?" Anyway, all in all, great service and great food as before. One thing I do want to note - theseaweed salad that came with the chicken appetizer totally changed. I was so in love with the seaweed salad on my previousvisit, where they had fresh seaweed - note my pictures. They have since changed suppliers or something, and now the salad isactually just a green salad with roasted dried nori cut and sprinkled. A completely different dish. I was verydisappointed. ============ PREVIOUSLY: All the dishes were even more high class than the decor here hinted at. You kinda expecta diner joint even though the name says "Finer Dining" because of the decor and the menu. (TV dinner menu??) But the food isdefinitely more fine dining. KETO: So I'm on the keto diet. With the fried calamari and chicken appetizers, I figured I'd justpeel off the breading and eat the meat. Guys. The cook here is A-MAzing! The breading would NOT come off. Bad for keto, but thisis some good cooking! Crazy yummy. SPECIAL TOUCH: Every dish was also very special. Calamari came with fried pickled pepperfries and lemon fries as well - surprising tastebud attack. The crispy chicken came with a seaweed salad that was perfect for myAsian tastebuds. These are not easy ingredients to find!Super fresh and special. I'd totally take a side of just the salad any Read more

Great atmosphere. Such a fun place with the 'old time' movies and the unique supper club decor/ambiance. Good variety of items... on the menu. A friend and I split the 2 diff toasts (1 avocado and the other with bacon jam) and both were delicious; however, the bacon one was very sweet which I wasn't expecting. Would have preferred a more savory one. Overall great experience though.Bloody Mary's were a little watery, but good flavor. Read more

As with all Black Shoe Hospitality restaurants, Buttermint does not disappoint. We had the oysters rockafeller and were told we... were the first to order them! Well I am here to tell you, order them. We didn't get a picture because we got right to eatingthem. My husband, our 13 year old daughter, and myself all greatly enjoyed them. The grilled lamb chops and elk loin were to diefor, and the sauce on the spaghetti was incredible. We will be back! Read more

Previously Blue's Egg, but the same owners. They have transformed their brunch restaurant into a 1950s themed diner with a... rotating dinner menu. There is both outdoor seating and a large indoor seating area. Parking is limited to the street, which isvery busy. If you make reservations or are meeting someone at a certain time, plan ahead for at least a five minute walk. Thisis a great spot for happy hour; seasonal cocktails on tap, large liquor selection, expansive wine menu, and a range of beer tochoose from. Another perk for those not drinking is their creative mocktail and nonalcoholic wine selection! The dinner menu hasa few staples like their pork chop and salmon. There is a "TV Dinner" special Tuesday through Thursday which contains an entree, side, and dessert. They have vegetarian options in addition to several salads. My husband and I came for dinner and wereabsolutely in love; I immediately texted my friends to plan a happy hour. Our server Tyler was attentive, professional, andefficient. As part of a Yelp Elite event, we received an order of their Deviled Eggs, Calamari, and a glass of Sangria. All ofwhich came out quickly and tasted amazing. In between the appetizer and entrees, we were given a mint limeade palate cleanser. Iordered the Lobster Roll and Squash Tempura Salad. I was thinking this would be the perfect amount but both dishes were sogenerous I needed to take a box for at least half. My husband ordered the Salmon which was cooked to perfection! We were toostuffed for dessert but I did have room for one of their Mai Tais; perfection. I am disappointed that we no longer live inWhitefish Bay because I would love to become a regular. This establishment is a great addition to the neighborhood! Read more

I’ve dined at Buttermint multiple times. Everything from the moment you walk in and up to walking out the door is a great... experience. The staff, always very friendly, knowledgeable of the current menu and wine selections and attentive. The menuchanges regularly and everything on the menu is amazing. Last visit I had salmon and it was the best salmon I’ve ever had; itwas fresh, a creative dish, wonderfully executed and delicious. I’m so glad Shorewood/Whitefish Bay have a great restaurant. They aren’t enough. Read more

Co-owner Chef Joe Muench, a James Beard Award semifinalist, clearly pays attention to detail at this new gem in Shorewood. The... East and West Coast oysters were shucked at the raw bar where we could see, and at our request the perfect Mignonette sauce wasmade special for our table. The Okonomiyaki (Japanese pancake) was an absolute must try, and it's dancing Bonito did notdisappoint! Our knowledgeable and accommodating waitress (Kathy F. ) surprised us with a refreshing cucumber mint lemonadeIntermediate (small palatte cleansing drink), the flavor which changes daily. Our dinner choices were the Skate Wing (a type ofshark) and Today's TV Dinner, referred to as a "Mountain Manwich" which was an Elk Sloppy Joe. Both were absolutely amazing! TheSkate Wing was mouthwatering, flaky and tender, with a light and creamy Buerre Blanc sauce, and the Elk Sloppy Joe was extremelysavory. When the check arrived, it came with a delightful tin of Buttermints! A unique and clever touch. All our drinks werevery good (I highly recommend the Buttermint Old Fashioned), but most notable was The Last Word, made with green chartreuse, aFrench herbal liqueur which apparently is difficult to come by. This place is an absolute must try! Perfect for  date night! Read more

What a wonderful meal! Dan was an absolute delight as our server, making sure we were well taken care of. The manager's wine... knowledge was also fantastic, though I'm sorry to say I forgot to get his name. We started with fabulous cocktails, the oysters, which were so fresh, and the okonomiyaki, which exploded with flavor. I had the special, a braised rabbit leg which wasfalling-off-the-bone tender, and my husband had the flavorful and tender strip steak. We finished the meal with the miso carameltart, which was the perfect finish to a fantastic meal. So chocolatey and perfectly salty and sweet. We can't wait to be back! Read more

Black Shoe hit it out of the park with this one! This upscale take on a mid-century Wisconsin staple was well worth the special... trip. With warm decor, friendly staff, and a free coat check you'll feel right at home in this little hideaway. Their singlepage menu is crafted with high quality dishes that are sure to please the adventurous eater in any friend group. Glad to seethis one added to the well respected Black Shoe family of restaurants. Read more
