The most tremendous disappointment I experienced at this restaurant was when I ordered the Lobster Bisque soup. Years ago, if... you didn’t know what lobster bisque should taste like, you could reliably come here and have a taste. The soup used to besuper creamy, a gorgeous lobster color, so tasty with chunks of lobster throughout. Since Covid19, the restaurant has suffered. It no longer doles out the same level of quality fare it did before. The lobster bisque today looks the color of Manhattan clamchowder, and it is bland and tasteless. I couldn’t believe how bad the soup was, and that the place keeps serving it topeople. I then ordered the Skye salmon dish with Israeli couscous. I asked for a medium cook. I got back rare uncooked fishcoated in fake news seasoning (that’s an appearance of seasonings in a crust but with absolutely no taste. Very disappointingagain. Along with the complete interior redesign of the restaurant (which eliminated the atmosphere of elegance that came withthe previous layout), this glorified sports bar owns these 2 major misses which earn Legal Seafoods a one star. But when youtaste the mussels, you feel so much better about this - although not in a rush to return, let alone bring someone I want toimpress. So I stretch it out to 3 stars as the mussels and the service were excellent. Our waiter Roger made sure we understoodthe menu, and shared some useful information to help us make our choices. Yes, Legal is a classier option than Red Lobster. Butlet’s face it: Oceanaire is a much better and luxurious proposition. Read more

Staff was amazing. The woman bartender was warm and inviting and offered her suggestion on what to get. Got the Crab Cake dinner... and it was by far the best I have ever had. She convinced me to get the Bread Pudding for dessert, and I was really impressed. It was perfect. Highly recommended getting it, even if that's the only thing you get. Very happy overall. Read more

I really enjoy my food every time I come here. The location is convenient and the food is always fresh. I went for something... different than my usual. The scallops were delicious- they paired well with the rice pilaf. They have a good selection of drinksas well. The service was good. My server was very attentive. I will definitely be back. We started with Legal White Martini and Watermelon Basil Martini. Then it came with the Lobster Bisque and Oyster of the day. We... ordered Fisherman’s Platter and Cioppino which are deep fried seafood and tomato broth seafood platters. Taste is good and nottoo salty. Oysters are fresh! Service is good too! Highly recommended! Read more

It never fails that eating here is a great experience. The staff was pleasant, the ambiance is classy and relaxing, the food was... GREAT! So happy they brought back the Thai calamari. My seafood combo plate was well flavored and absolutely delicious. Myfiancé also thoroughly enjoyed his seafood steak meal. We’ll definitely be back! Great way to wrap up a day of shopping :) Read more

I love Legal Seafood. We must appreciate this location because all other NJ location has closed. Coronavirus is... devastating. I had great service from Legal Seafood in Short Hills. By the way, I have been decade long Short Hills resident,so, lots of memories. Before and after renovation. One thing I love... great service. Unfortunately, corporate takeover makesfood worse. I don't know why oysters were poorer quality than what you find in Shoprote, H mart... And, worst of all... evenstaffs agree... what happened to Boston Cream Pie? Used to be round... what I found at Logan Airport as well.. LTKkitchen... Slice of whatever... that is truly pathetic. I still give 5 stars... for residual loyal employees who knows whatshould have been... I truly love Legal Seafoods... been to so many locations including Palisades Center, In Boston. Etc... Ireally pray and hope Short Hills Mall location can survive... especially with Ruth Chris comp side-by-side. Read more

Beautiful and popular upscale seafood restaurant with their own outside mall entrance. Meals are flavorful and feature large... portions with appetizing presentation. Staff members are cordial and accommodating and menu prices are appropriate. They alsooffer valet parking in the mall parking deck. Read more

Conveniently located inside the Short Hills mall. There is an outside door. Does have gluten free options, but are very limited.... Mention to the waiter as some of the GF items were ambiguous. The staff was extremely kind and attentive! Food was delicious, though I did receive a different side that the one I ordered. Larger restaurant with plenty if seating, but you might was tocall ahead. Would recommend as a nice semi casual option close to the mall. Read more
