Going into Sam?s, I didn?t have high hopes. As I stood up front for 5 minutes while the gal did a crossword, I was about to... leave. Finally some other gal came up and sat me. The table was sticky, the menu has ketchup on it, so far they were batting 1/5because the waitress was nice. Going over the menu I picked some fried pickles and a double cheese burger. Was figuring it wasgoing to be a light lunch. Boy was I wrong. First came out the fried pickles. I got enough that I could have shared with thetable next to me. Best way to describe them - juicy yet crunchy. By far some of the best fried pickles I have ever had in mylife. The burger came out next. I was expecting a small burger. This bad boy was so big that I dang near couldn?t open my mouthwide enough to take a bite. Seasoned perfectly, hot, cheesy, warm bun and most of all - amazing. One of the best burgers at arestaurant. Come hungry! Grilled or fried- fish, shrimp, chicken-they have it all plus southern delights...turnip greens, fried green... tomatoes, Mac & cheese, red beans & rice, fried liver and gizzards (not a favorite of mine but they have it), variety of cakesand more. Always a stop omw to New Orleans and back the people are very nice and treat you like family. The food always delicious. If your... ordering chicken wings ask them to fry them a little hard bc they are full sized wings. Read more
