Reviews for Trejo's Mexican Restaurant in Shreveport, LA

First off, the food is delicious. I almost wish it wasn't, because I will really miss not coming here. Below are my... grievances, in order of severity. 1.) There was a fingernail in our salsa. Yes, we're sure. No, it wasn't a piece of cheeseor onion or anything else that could look similar to a torn-off crescent of human fingernail. We picked it out and still atethe salsa, but became increasingly grossed-out about it as we continued our meal. 2.) They charge you for sides (such as sourcream) that they never bring you. 3.) I have a personal problem with the signs on both sides of the restaurant admonishingguests to "please pay your server." "Please tip" would be bad enough, but "please pay"?? Isn't that the job of the employer, even in our messed-up tipping culture? 4.) If you ask for a virgin drink that is specifically listed as non-alcoholic on themenu, they will bring you a version with alcohol in it (not a problem for everybody, but relevant for a couple inrecovery). Again, unfortunately, everything was really delicious and I still have leftovers from this trip that I intend tofinish. But we won't be back. Read more

My family and I met up at Trejo for my niece's birthday before we heading back home to Houston. The customer service was ok, the... waiter did seem a bit overwhelmed and was forgetting several things including the birthday girl's order. The food including thechips/salsa was really bland. I wouldn't call this Mexican Food. Save your time and money and find a different place to eat. Read more

This was my first time eating here. I give it a 4 star for the food. The downside is after my husband and I finished eating,... was the only time someone came to the table, to bring the check. And ask how everything was. But the other customers of adifferent color got great service. We were never asked if we needed anything. We left a tip anyway, in spite of greatservice. Read more

So, we decided to stop by this place on the way home because it's convenient. Not my favorite, but not bad. They were a... little busy with the lunch crowd. We sit down and everything goes as normal. Things start taking a turn for the worse when myboyfriend asked for more chips. Rather than being more courteous, the manager (server) says "Give me a few minutes" He didcatch himself and tried to say please and fix it but that initial was not ok. I let it go, no biggie. Then my glass wasnever refilled, others were, but not mine. Then my son asked for a steak knife and it was never brought. Finally the nailin the coffin was that my boyfriend, without thinking, put a $5 tip on a $70 meal. Now, this is understandably low but hejust did it without thinking about the % as this is what he does during the week and didn't think about how the prices arejacked up for the weekend. What gets me is that the manager (server) actually came to get the bill after it was signed andlooked at my boyfriend and he "You put $5 on a $70 bill?" My boyfriend just replied with "yeah." Others may disagree, but tome that is horribly unprofessional. A tip is not required and is based on what the customer wishes to grant. Not to mention, the service lacked... and He's the Manager! (Or owner... not sure) If it was awesome, I would even somewhat understand butjust because you're smiling doesn't mean your service is good. I don't feel comfortable going back to this restaurant, sadly. To be confronted like that makes me want to stay away. Read more

I like to say that the beef fajitas were terrible. And why wasn't the beef fajitas on a hot cast iron skillet? The beef were... all rubbery and no flavor what so ever. The onions and peppers looked like they been sitting a while, and rice was flavorlessand very dry. The beans had a coating on them like they were sitting a while as well. I recommend not eating here. The tortillawere crunchy( not soft). For the price I paid for I would expect it to be fresh. Don't try to steal tip money from me. I paidcash for a meal(which for 1 person was steep of 26$ of nasty food) of $40 and the waiter never returned my change of payment forthe meal. Meaning he stole the rest of my hard earned money. I would have tipped well but not when they forcefully take mymoney. Read more

The staff was very friendly and the service was amazingly fast....the chips were nice and warm and the salsa and queso were... delicious.....my only concern was the shredded cheese they used tasted funny. Like if they used a big bag that was left open fora few days. It was quite gross. Also the food wasn't anything exciting. I would only return for the chips, salsa and queso. Read more

This is some of the best restaurant bought Tex-Mex I have had in a long while. My family ordered a family fajita meal with... chicken and steak and i am blown away. The steak is super tender, the amount of food is incredible, and the service frombeginning to end was superb. I dont have a negative for this review. Very, very well done, Trejo of Blanchard.
