It is beautiful historic place just off the the old highway to the border on 588 chef Shelly Simon has an amazing menu and some... of the best burgers in the northwestern Ontario. Great selection of craft beers and she was the only restaurant to serveWalkerVille beer. Read more
My husband, daughter and I rented their cabin through vrbo for the weekend. We are from Minnesota and this was our first trip... ever to Canada. We were very excited to have a nice little cabin, away from city lights to view the northern lights. This didnot happen. Instead we did not receive our entry code to enter the property until several hours after check in. By this time wehad already booked the VERY LAST hotel room available in Thunder Bay for the night. My husband spent hours calling the owner andvrbo, trying to figure out what was going on. 4 hours of day #1 shot. The next day we had the code so our plan was to hit theattractions we wanted to see, have dinner, then make it an early night back at the cabin. We arrived and it had not been cleanedfrom the last people who had rented, there was no electricity and no running water. So again, my husband spends a couple hourstrying to reach the owner and vrbo. But once it started getting dark, and he was not getting any response, we decided we neededto leave. There were no emergency candles and no outdoor lights from any of the surrounding buildings. My guess is she didn'tpay her electric bill... but who knows. So we attempted to book another hotel room. But there were NONE in Thunder Bay or anysurrounding areas. We had to head back to the US to find a room 3 hours away. I am furious with the owner for ruining this tripby not having the basic things ready for someone to rent her property. While we made the best of the time we could, we had tocut our trip short because of this. Also... the restaurant looks like it has been abandoned for a long time. Don't try to eatthere. Read more
