Tried to get coffee here: I asked if they served coffee & was told ?one minute? when I came out of the restroom she served me a... cup of black coffee before I could ask 1. What they have & 2. I would like it ?to go.? When I told her I had wanted it to goshe said ?they don?t have that.? So I was not happy but decided since she already brought it I would sit and drink it, so Iasked for cream? or milk.. or ANYTHING & was told ?they didn?t have that!? She went to ask the kitchen and came back and Saidsomething to the effect of if I knew you wanted milk I would?ve made a latte. She which I said that?s what I wanted to beginwith you never asked you just served me!!! So she said she would go make one for me and then she went over and was speaking withsomeone in the kitchen, not in English and I couldn?t understand but she came back and said we don?t have that. So I left. Itwas such a strange interaction and I was very frustrated. If that?s the service then I won?t be back for food. Read more

Met up with a close friend that I haven?t seen in 20 years and she recommended this Ethiopian restaurant. I haven?t had... Ethiopian food in a long time bc I haven?t found a place where I?ve lived. If you?ve never had Ethiopian food, you have to tryit. Don?t get scared not knowing what to order. We ordered the meat and vegetable platter that?s big enough to share. The foodhere was delicious! And the African crepes are so soft with a light airy feel. Mmm so delicious! It was my husband?s first timetrying the food and he was surprised at how tasty everything was. Our server was really friendly and helpful. Lots of seatinghere and within walking distance of the parking garage. Read more

TLDR: Solid Ethiopian restaurant with an extensive menu. Come for the crispy tibs and special kitfo. Vibe: 4/5. Located near... downtown Silver Spring, Beteseb is a quaint Ethiopian restaurant serving up some serious eats. They are located in a heavilypopulated Ethiopian neighborhood, which is evident by all the neighboring Ethiopian restaurants and marketplaces nearby. Takingup a somewhat large corner location, Beteseb is easily found and has ample metered street parking nearby. Inside, the restauranthas numerous tables that can easily be pushed together to accommodate larger parties. During our visit, we made a reservationfor 8 for dinner on a Wednesday, however it was not necessary. Interior decor is simple, yet clean and uncluttered which worksperfectly fine. Service: 5/5. The staff at Beteseb was great in accommodating our large group from start to finish. We orderedover a half dozen dishes for the table as well as several rounds of beer and the staff did a great job at getting everything outin record time. When it was time to settle the check, they were punctual at closing us out as well. Food: 5/5. Every dish waswell executed. We ordered a wide range of dishes, including special kitfo, crispy beef ribs, lamb tibs, beef pasta, firfir, beefwot, lentils, collard greens and salad. Best in show goes to the crispy tibs which was a creative take on the traditional beeftibs. The meat was seared extra hard to a crunchy texture yet not dry when you bite in. The special kitfo was also memorable, asit included greens and cheese along with the fiery seasoned raw beef tartar. Beteseb manages to separate itself from the sea ofEthiopian restaurants nearby with unconventional takes on Ethiopian classics as seen above. If you are in the mood forEthiopian, I highly recommend! I saw this place was one of the best Ethiopian restaurants in the DC area, and it did not disappoint. Everything was incredibly... fresh, and so good. I had Ethiopian at other places but it did not wow me as much as Beteseb, and I honestly can't wait to goback. We shared the meat/veggie combo and each part was incredibly tasty. As a germaphobe, I also really appreciated how cleanand sparkling everything was! The place was filled which was a testament to how good the food was. Read more

Great food! I had never had Ethiopian food before stopping in here. The server helped us pick a couple of dishes that we... shared. A mixture of vegetarian and meat options. I was a bit hesitant about eating with my hands with the Injera bread, but itwas great. Highly recommended. Read more

What an amazing place for Ethiopian cuisine! WARNING, portion sizes are LARGE and filling. We had the kitfo (raw beef), veggie... combo, and crispy beef tibs. The kitfo doesn't taste like raw meat at all, more like a red soft wheat item like dense pancakes. The veggie combo is pretty standard. The crispy beef tibs are a must get, the carmelized pieces are crunchy bites of delight.Ps: The decor is clean and modern. Read more

The best food with the best friendly and professional staff, the restaurant is located conveniently in downtown silver spring... and a few blocks from DC line. Easy to find street parking (make sure you feed the meter) The waitress was on point, helpful.Owner or manager was at the spot and making sure everything was okay. ( I like that) The food was great, fresh and tasty exactlywhat we ordered and wanted. I highly recommended Beteseb Restaurant. Read more
