First time trying out this place and it was great. Food was delicious and they have halal certified chicken as confirmed by the... owners. The staff was very friendly. Family and I had a great time and will definitely be returning back for more. The dishespictured are custom entrees Victor was able to make for us upon request. Highly recommend this place. I was hopeful based on other reviews from Google. Now I question if I was even at the same restaurant. Starting with the visual,... it looks like it would be a cool place with great eats. Kind of industrial with some warmth. And with little more to come, that's about where the bulk of the positive review stops. The server was very polite (+) and extremely under trained (- - -).We were not asked about drinks so we dealt with the sole glass of water each person all meal. He had attempted to memorize ourorder to come back and take half of it again. Our appetizer Voodoo Rolls were not served as it was not prep-ready at the time itwas ordered. One thing I may be a stickler on is personal space; it was a bit unreasonable to reach across a guest's face todeliver or remove plates. To round it off, unless he was dropping food off, he did not check on us. A few simple lessons in foodservice could make him so much better. The food: chicken tenders were good, fries warm & soggy, gator bites were caked withseasoning and chewy, jambalaya was lacking protiens and very little sauce, if any. The corn bread wasn't rib-sticking but ok.When we finally ended with dinner, our Voodoo rolls were arriving and looked nothing like the previous posts. We took them to goand let the grease soak all the way home. I really, really hope this was a fluke as it would be great to have this menuselection in top form up north. Read more

Delicious food. I'm not an expert on cajun cuisine so I can't tell whether it's super authentic or not, but it tasted great!... Loved the French soup, shrimp and grits, jambalaya and corn and shrimp soup. My partner loved the gumbos. Cocktails are verygood too. Hosts are so friendly and they made us feel pampered and at home, had great conversation with them and gave us goodtips for our travel. One of the highlights of our holiday! Read more

I’ve been to Roux Cajun Eatery in Simsbury, CT several times recently and have been thoroughly impressed every time! As a big... fan of Cajun cooking, I can easily recommend the Blackened Alligator Bites, Crawfish Etouffee and The Catfish Dinner! All wereflavorful and seasoned perfectly for the right amount of flavor and spice. Their drinks are also primo, including the Sazeracand the Vieux Carré! Plus service is very attentive! I give them 5???? ! Read more

Was very hyped up to go here from reviews. After visit not so much. Food was not the greatest. Mac ans cheese was under cooked... and hard. Returned and came back same way again. Chicken tenders were very chewy. I will say the alligator leg and the jambalayawere pretty good. Service was not the greatest. I had to find waitress anytime I needed anything including gettingsilverware. $100 dollar bill for half the food we didn't even eat.. Read more

Drove out to simsbury recently to check out the roux cafe after it appeared as a “hidden gem” in the Hartford Courant.... It’s a pretty decent size restaurant with a good amount of seating available inside. The staff was super friendly and helpfulthroughout our visit. The food on the other hand didn’t really live up to expectations. The meal was good overall, but itjust didn’t hit flavor wise. The biscuits were ok but a little bit stiff. The jambalaya didn’t have any real spice and itdidn’t look like the authentic red based NOLA gumbo I expected. The seafood gumbo tasted super broth-like and not ROUX basedat all. Sadly, the regular gumbo had a burned taste which means the roux was Burned!! The ultimate no-no when making gumbo. Idon’t mean to be harsh and there’s definitely a lot of room for improvement. But my expectations for a Creole themedrestaurant are always going to be extremely high because of my love for NOLA. As a newer establishment, I hope they continue togrow and get better by adding more seasonings and spices to their food. Read more
