While visiting my sister in Four Oaks, NC we stayed the night in Smithfield. My sister told me about this place, stating their... filled croissants were great. Needless to say I visited the bakery the next morning to verify for myself and I was notdisappointed. I ordered fruit filled for my sister and her husband, a vanilla filled for myself and a honey bun for my husband. Soooooo good. If you are in the area be sure to stop in. The young lady that took the order was not the friendliest I havemet, but I will chalk that up to a rough and customers like me that had not been there before. Read more

So I ordered a dozen Glazed Croissants (10 were filled with various flavors), Chocolate Cream Horn, and a Cheesecake slice. I... didn?t have any issues with Cream Horn or the Cheesecake (was very delicious) and the shop was nice and clean. So let?s talkabout the the crown jewel that this place is known for, the ?Croissants?. First, they are not. Croissant are more than just ashape. Now I can tell that there were some kind of folding because I can barely see layers on top under the glaze, but that?swhere it stops. The inside is a doughnut. [EDITED - upon eating another one the next morning, from what I have left over, Idiscovered that the croissants were fried, instead of traditionally baked. This is why I saw layers on top, but inside it hadthe consistency of a doughnut.] There were no flaky-buttery-air-pockets that croissants are known for. Don?t get me wrong theywere still delicious, but croissants they were not. Now I am stuck on whether I should give it a 3 star or a 4 star rating, while ?flavor is king? proper labeling is also important. I don?t know if this was a honest mistake that was never corrected dueto its popularity or if it?s a failure to actually know how a croissant is made? Either way they are great doughnuts with acroissant labeling and prices. 3 stars because you don?t actually get what you drove there to begin with. In some ways it?s adisappointment, but not a bad disappointment. It?s like going somewhere asking for a nice steak, but instead you got a reallygood chicken and you?re at peace with the mistake. Today I politely asked the young person that was waiting on me to change her gloves before making my order because she had her... gloves on at the register. She fixed my order(in the back where I can?t see her) and came back with the same jelly smearedgloves that she had on prior to making my order. I politely asked her did she remember that I had asked her to change her glovesand she stated ?I did? When I presented to her that I knew that she didn?t because she had the same jelly stains on her glovesshe proceeded to tell me that she didn?t change them because they are not suppose to change them. I requested to speak to themanager and waited for the owner ?Fred? who states they have policies to follow and she was suppose to change her gloves. I wasrefunded my money but will not be returning. I?ve been on several occasions and they have on gloves with their phones in theirhands or drinking something with gloves on and then go and make someone?s order. After my talk with the owner and his bodylanguage I don?t think anything will change. Read more

We enjoyed our visit here. Customer service was good. Only thing is I wish they'd put the croissants on display in the case. You... have to write down what flavors you want and they go get them. I visited Burney's in Raleigh a few weeks ago and discovered theyhad one in Smithfield. I HAD to stop by and it was AMAZING here as well. We got glazed croissants, cookies, and macaroons atSmithfield location ???? Read more
