The atmosphere here is absolutely wonderful. The food here is equally amazing. And my 32 years of life, this place had by far... the absolute best chip beef I have ever had. From the welcoming counter that shows history of the establishment so the staff. Ifyou're rolling through Smithsburg I highly recommend stopping by having a bit of a rest and an awesome meal. I'm 33 now, I camehere to write this but had forgotten I was blow away by this place. If you are thinking about it, don't, do it. It's worth it. Read more

Servers are always in too much of a RUSH anymore. Not everyone may be done talking dont be to quick to turn to the next table... when you do that its called you just ignored a customer which pays the owner which in turn pays you. The cook anymore leaves thefood on the grill to long i asked for bacon on the grill 10 seconds on each side any longer cooks it way to long for my taste ihate crunchy bacon. Not to mention the pancakes you should not have to use extreme force to cut a pancake with a fork basicallyi needed a chainsaw to cut them. No old time radio playing anymore the atmosphere turned from classic feel to modern stress idont need it so from here on out I WILL NOT RECOMMEND OR BE BACK TO DIXIE DINER. Read more

After living here for a year we finally tried the diner. The breakfast was SO good! Huge pancakes, generous side of bacon, the... sausage gravy was delicious ...and it's not expensive. Definitely worth it! Read more

I just can't say enough good things about little diners like this. It's one thing to make comfort food anybody can do that, but... when you have a place that feels comfy too, well you've got nostalgia gold right there. When I'm traveling with family it'salmost inevitable that we stop at some fast food chain and I don't ever expect my kids to have fond memories of the staleinteriors and processed food, but watching their eyes light up at the sight of spinning bar stools and the food being cooked onthe other side of the counter reminds me that it's good to stop and sit down, even if it means a few more minutes to yourtrip. My boys said "best grilled cheese sandwiches ever." So if you're camping in the Catoctin Mountains, or beingpresidential at Camp David, but want a friendly environment with comfort food, you can't go wrong with this place. Read more
