This is review on the restaurant itself and not on the food. I have been to spuntinos many times and really enjoyed the food. I... decided to bring my friend there last night, her first time there. She has a pretty severe shrimp allergy and as we askedquestions about the menu our waiter had to ask about every item to find out if It was safe. A shellfish allergy is pretty commonand I was surprised that the staff was not more educated on how the items may be cooked. We found out everything that was friedwas fried in the same oil in the same deep fryer (that?s including the ?pan fried? items on the menu? which means they aren?tactually pan fried???). We quickly realized that there was a high chance the items that were considered safe would probably becross contaminated. We unfortunately had to leave after having a drink because we didn?t feel comfortable risking a possibleallergic reaction. This was definitely a disappointing experience. Spuntino's in St James offers a wonderful sit-down dining experience, but my last visit was just for Pizza. The large pies, and... the Grandma's pies, are great and worth the trip. The Pizettes made in the wood fired oven are in a class by themselves. Ipicked up the Little Neo and it was outstanding. I asked for the garlic knots extra crispy and they were done of the best knotsI've ever had. Read more
They gave me a very hard time with my service dog- constant stares and asked for papers several times. Would not let us sit... inside Then they gave my family and i difficulties when we wanted to merge tables so we can sit together Food was not that greatfor us to have stayed after stressful accommodation . The food was really good and I would eat from there again. But to go and sit there to eat maybe not so much. When we got there... the waitress was a tad rude. We kept being kind saying please and thank you and shortly after she change her attitudethankfully. Read more
Great place for all Italian deliciousness! Calamari fresh and perfectly fried, no grease. Veal Parm awesome, sauces delightful.... Oh, and the garlic bread, yummy. Our service was great as well. Read more
Good clean food, had the Meatballs...they were OK typical restaurant meatballs, ordered a personal margherita...very nice crust,... fresh sauce...also tried their Sicilian which was very good too...I would give the Sicilian a Portnoy score of 7.1 the brickoven a Portnoy score of 8.5. Read more
Great Brick Oven Pizza. So far I e tried 3 different types, and the one with fresh cheese is my favorite. Fettuccine and Shrimp... dish was amazing. Drinks were ok. Kids enjoyed the bread.
