We went to Sophie’s Bistro for the first time on a Saturday evening, about 7pm. We had not made reservations so it was not... surprising that we had to sit at the bar - which actually turned out to be absolutely great. The service was impeccable from themoment we walked in and were greeted by the hostess to the moment we left. The gentleman behind the bar was ever so busy but wasstill so attentive, polite, friendly and cheerful. The owner came over to chat - what a nice guy! The food was absolutelydelightful. The ambience was perfect, the wine delicious and the desserts and coffee a wonderful finish to the meal. The ownerpoured us each a little digestif of rum, cane sugar, vanilla and banana -which they make on the premises - wonderfully gorgeous. We shall be back! What a superb find in NJ! Read more

I thought I’ve reviewed Sophie’s Bistro before and have no picture to share of the excellent food, service, and ambiance... they offer. This restaurant has been open for 21 years, amazing and there’s a reason it’s still around. It’s unpretentiouswhich, in relation to French food, many find surprising, the food is wonderful, the staff is beyond good, and I think a lot ofthat has to do with the owner Peter who stopped by our table a few times, once to see if we were enjoying ourselves and thenwith a complimentary after dinner aperitif and stayed to chat a bit about the establishment. I can not say enough about why youshould go, just go! Read more

Came here with my family for the seafood broil. Service was fantastic. 5 stars for that alone. We ordered a couple of drinks we... did not like and our sever was so attentive and noticed we didn't enjoy them and replaced them with another order. I orderedthe clam chowder which was absolutely delicious. My favorite thing on the menu. I also ordered the crab cake which was alsogreat. My family ordered 2 other dishes which I can't remember the names of and they liked them. The apple pie was OK,wouldn't recommend and the profiteroles were good. Overall, highly recommend. Very friendly staff with speedy and fantasticservice. We'll be back! Read more

5 stars all the way. I used to eat here frequently when I lived in New Brunswick. Not sure why we stopped coming but wound up... here last night for dinner. Happy to report, the food is still fantastic. Peter was so friendly, asked how everything was, gaveus a tour of the new dining room and I really enjoyed the experience. Can't wait to come back!
