Worth trying. Not recommended. Service: Back patio reservation on an early Thursday evening. The host seated us right away... despite showing up a bit early for our reservation time. That immediately left a good impression. Heater was very helpful ingetting us comfortable a few minutes after being seated. Server came to bring water. After ordering our food, another host cameby to tell us about their “no dog policy, except for service dogs.” This threw us off as we felt that she was trying to kickus out without even asking beforehand if our animal was service or not. The hostess who seated us and the server didn’tmention anything as well. I must admit that this affected the overall experience and largely for the rating of this review. Ifan establishment has any kind of policy, please let it be known before being seated at the very least or on your website. Guestscome and look forward to a dining experience and not being treated in this manner. Food: Decent and forgettable. Came here withsome expectations after reading about this place but left being disappointed a bit. Ordered focaccia with anchovy lardo butter, crackers with pumpkin dip, pineapple and guava soda, squid ink orecchiette pasta, tuna loin risotto. Read more

Home feels very homey and cozy. Friendly services! Fresh ingredients, seasonal menu. What not to love? Love the vegetable dish... and pate for appetizer. For main course, we ordered abalone, squid ink pasta, and sea urchin pasta. All 3 were yum but if youlike spicy, go for squid ink. Definitely try the mushroom tartelette for dessert! Amazing ???????????? Read more

Quaint, thoughfull, and caring, throughout the experience, from service to food. This is what restaurants should be like, and... why people fall in love with them. Service was exceptional. You can not do better. Food is very good. Prices are extremely fairfor what you're getting. They could charge more, I feel, say if you compared them to other similar restaurants. I only wish wecould have tasted everything before getting so full. Even though we were simply stuffed, we made room for dessert. It was worthloosening our belts for. We will make it point to book reservations next time we visit Santa Cruz, and so should you. Thesepeople deserve at least one, if not two Michelin Stars if they don't already have them. Highly recommend to friends or family. Read more

This place is so advertised and appreciated, I decided to give it a try It’s run by a family I think, but the FOH could do... with some better manners, both while taking reservations and accommodating guests. The girls up front come across as a bit rudeand don’t like to accommodate any guest requests, blunting saying ‘no’ instead of a smile and explanation. We asked tomove to a table in the back snd we’re told ‘no’ it’s reserved, yet when we left 1.5 hrs later, it was still vacant Thefood was very average, maybe we ordered the wrong items? The panzanella was ok, pricey for the portion, and only had 2-3 piecesof bread…the onion overpowered and would have been better off soaked in cold water to take out the sting a bit We also got thecauliflower which was ok but personally it’s not my favorite vegetable :) The fried chicken was not bad, again, a bit priceyand we also got the potatoes which were very disappointing. When you say ‘crispy’ on the menu, you expect some color andcrisp, yet these were just white, in spite of us saying we wanted it extra well done. The server looked apologetic when wepointed it out and didn’t offer to take it off or prepare it again, just said ‘I can put it back in the oil for a re fry’I mean, they would be ruined and swimming in oil then! We just got the whole thing to go and gave it away to someone Overall, great atmosphere if you get a seat in the back (which seems coveted and difficult, not to mention granted by FOH like afavor…bit of a put off) but the food left us wanting more, more flavor, more quality…we may give it one more try if we’rein the area again and try other dishes, who knows, maybe other items are great! I don't say this lightly - this is one of the best restaurants in the Bay Area. The food is fresh and locally/sustainably... sourced, the dishes are innovative and delicious, and the service and owners are outstanding. Oh, and the patio dining and backgarden are beautiful and casual -- what more could you ask for?! We've eaten here many times over the past year and beenconsistently impressed. You can't go wrong on the menu - it's all good. We liked it so much we decided to host our mini-weddingthere in the garden and it was the best decision. The venue was perfect (and COVID friendly - outdoors, masked servers etc), thestaff was so friendly, and everything ran really smoothly and as planned. Many of our guests remarked on how incredible the foodand whole experience was - and started referring local friends to come in. I HIGHLY recommend HOME for a group dinner, datenight, or event - they know what they are doing and are truly a Santa Cruz gem. We will be coming back for years to come. Thankyou Brad and Linda!! Sunday we went to HOME and we had a great experience. Their chicken liver pate with cheese is so good. The cauliflower was... fantastic! The surprise was the octopus with watermelon, that I never thought about this combination, but it worked perfectly. Iasked for a salmon dish which was a chef's special, and I enjoyed it. The restaurant is a house, so cozy and cute. I recommendmaking reservations prior to your visit because they are only open from 5pm-9pm. The costumer service was awesome as well. Read more
