We were lucky enough to celebrate our wedding weekend with a family dinner at Carmela's. The food was excellent and our group... was treated to the kind of old-fashioned service that seems rare these days. What a great meal! We got here a bit early(they don't reopen for dinner until 5pm) but that was no problem...killed some time... shopping at Macri's Bakery that shares the same roof with them. Dinner started with an Aperol Spritz and the Mozzarella Fritti.Some of the best mozzarella sticks I've ever had! Clearly made in house, coated in panko, and deep fried to perfection. Dinnersalads came next with a basket of bread and herbed olive oil for dipping. We had Chicken Parmesan and Shrimp Carbonara for ourentrees. Yum! The pastas and proteins were cooked perfectly and it was simply delicious. Our server Kaitlin was friendly andattentive, so she helped make it an enjoyable experience for our first time here. Nice Italian restaurant. Great service and clean atmosphere. The host was very kind. The food was good but I expected something... different. My first time going there. The mozzarella sticks were just too much but their marinara sauce was good. Their salmonthough is pretty good, nice flavor to it and just juicy. Their desserts looked pretty tasty. Other than that the food wasdecent. If you’re looking for an Italian restaurant definitely try this place out. They also have a bakery next to therestaurant. Read more
Delicious! Great food, great service. Pasta was cooked too perfection. Marinara was so fresh. Wedding soup was yummy with the... tiny pasta. Cheese tortellini was creamy and tasty. Penne and meatballs was hot and the meatballs were tender and cut with afork. Shrimp scampi was fresh big shrimp. Delicious garlic wine sauce on linguine. Spaghetti and meatballs yummy also. This place was a great fine after flying into South Bend. This food was so authentic and melted in your mouth. That’s sweet... Italian flavor. I would repeat this place again we actually went back the next day for the bakery, which was outstanding. Read more
