Loved this place, nice atmosphere, quiet, good service. The shrimp and grits were amazing, the best I think I've had. We ordered two steaks. My husband's was the special with Mac and cheese. My husband was not impressed. It was very bland and his... steak did not taste right. Mine came with green beans and mashed potatoes. Half the green beans were over cooked the other halfnot cooked enough. The mashed potatoes were runny and over seasoned. My steak was as requested and the only thing I ate on myplate. The waitress was kind enough but did not pay us really any attention as she did not even notice that our plates werefull, outside of my steak. Or if she did she did not care enough about her customers satisfaction. Due to this she was nottipped her 20%. Which is extremely rare for us. The only reason they are getting a two is because our starter the jalapeñoscheese dip was AMAZING and my steak was cooked properly and was edible. Would not recommend at this point. I hope they get startpaying better to allow for better cooks because if I'm paying that much for a meal I expect it to be at the least ALL edible. Read more
Did the restaurant change cooks when it changed from being Hard Rock? I took a couple of friends to Kankakee Grille to dine... before the Dionne Warwick concert. The calamari, ribs and meatloaf were good, but the bread was so old that it was crumbling,and the fries were soggy. My friends are bread lovers, so I noticed when the bread and fries were left on their platesuntouched. I felt responsible, since this was my recommendation. So I brought this to the waitstaff attention, who replied thatthey didn't know why the bread was old, that it's usually fluffy, and the fries were probably soggy due to too much trufflesauce. I sympathize that we are in hard times, but I'm use to the waitstaff making sure that the food is edible beforedelivering it to the table. Read more
Always telling us that we need reservations to sit at a table and yet over half their tables are empty. Is it their policy to... have a reservation order sit at the table? The food is good and the wait staff is good. But they're always constantly wantingyou to sit at the bar which is fine but I don't care for all the tables being empty and the wait staff for those tables tend tobe standing around a lot while the wait staff for the bar is running ragged and it takes quite a long time to be served becausethey are so busy dealing with everybody sitting at the bar. Again is it policy that you have to have a reservation to sit at oneof those empty tables? Read more
We have had lots of wonderful experiences here. Last night was not one of them . We always sit at the bar and have dinner to... avoid reservations. We were very disappointed in our service and our food last night . Our server would not even make eyecontact with us while taking our orders and seemed very unfriendly. We have never had that happen to us here before . We orderedthe fish which had no flavor at all. We?re not ones to complain so we just smothered it with lemon juice . Read more
My wife and I have eaten at Kankakee Grill for a very long time there have been some speed bumps along the way but overall a... very impressive restaurant we continue to go back because of the chicken fried chicken which in our opinion was the best thingon the menu tonight as frequent patrons we were very disappointed because they revamped the menu and removed what we considerthe number one item chicken fried chicken Our waitress ignored us the entire night we asked for a straw for my wife?s drink andnever received it so I had to go to the bar and request one as the bartender noticed we had been sitting there for a long timeafter placing our food order she brought our salad out because our waitress did not . Was very disappointed. My wife & I have been coming here since they opened. 2-3 times a month for dinner. We always sit at... the bar & watch a game or 2. Last Sunday we were told we could no longer order the full menu at the bar. Very disappointed. Thebar menu didn't even offer wings, Flatbread or nachos. We spend a ton of $ in the casino after dinner. I'm not going to waitfor a table when there are plenty of seats at the bar. Hopefully you change your policies soon as you have lost our businessand many others from what I'm hearing. Read more
