Reviews for Giorgio's in South Orange, NJ

Let me start out by saying that I love to eat there. So, that’s the reason for the 4 stars. If I were just reviewing the... takeout experience, it would just be 3 stars. I’ve ordered takeout from there twice. I called both times. Both times thereseemed to be a $15, undisclosed takeout fee. My father picked up both times & I think he left a tip on top of that, notrealizing that he had been overcharged. A fee for picking up doesn’t make sense & deliveries are made through DoorDash, whichhas its own markup built in. Maybe they have a markup built in to takeout orders in the register, to account for the DoorDashmarkup, but if you call & place an order to pick up, you shouldn’t be paying that. Until they rectify that, I would recommendeating there & getting your takeout from somewhere else. Read more

The food was delicious and the meals were so pretty it was a shame to cut into them. It's many years since we've been here, but... we will be back soon. Read more

I can't gush enough about this place!! I made a reservation for four o'clock, even though the restaurant does not formally open... until five. The owner texted me and rushed to the restaurant to open its doors just to accommodate me. I had the whole place tomyself for one hour. During that time I had the chance to speak with a co-owner about hosting a wedding there. I originally hadplans to host my wedding in Manhattan, chasing down restaurants with Michelin starred chefs and austere world class rankings, then I decided to give this place a try. I have been converted! The owner sat with me for an entire hour to answer about fiftyplanning questions I gathered from the internet, everything from organization to decorations to pricing. You name it, the owneranswered everything with ease and laid back confidence in the service and quality of product they offer at this restaurant. Thepricing is amazing...I can rent out the whole restaurant for a ceremony in the main dining room, the party room for thereception and patio for a post reception coffee/tea s'mores social for only the per plate pricing (the catering menu is on thewebsite). I would have the whole place for four hours! My first impression of the restaurant (walking up to it) is that it's acozy, intimate family run restaurant with handicap accessibility (and tons of parking available on a Sunday) that immediatelyput me at ease. Even with loud construction going on outside, the inside is a delightfully peaceful fine dining atmosphere withmusic and comfortable cushioned chairs. The food is incredible. I ordered the file mignon because I saw a picture on theGrubhub website and wanted to give it a try. I asked for it to be well done, and the whole thing was a savory well presentedplate that begged to be eaten more with every bite. I think this might have been one of the best meals of my life, and to behonest I need to learn some self control with food this delicious. Everything was cooked to perfection, a Read more

We wanted a quiet neighborhood place for New year's Eve family dinner. Based on the Google rating and online menu we chose this... restaurant. However, they only had a 3 course prix-fixe for $69.99. For that price neither the food nor the service was worthit. The first course had a choice amongst 2 vegetarian soups and 3 salads and dessert had 2 options. Entree choices wereplentiful but nothing special. Read more

The food was good. I didn't realize it was BYOB only. My friends wanted wine with our meal. We order appetizers and dinner. The... dinner took almost an hour to come out. I understand it's a husband and wife team and it's a Fri night, but I definitely feel inorder to improve their service, more help is recommended. No one asked how was everything? I would go there again, just not onthe weekend. Read more
