Unfortunately, this place is located right next to a nail shop so the smell of nail polish chemicals is constant. Some of the... staff were not friendly and appeared not to want to be there. Service was very slow as it took us over an hour to get our mealand we had to keep asking them for it. They have a kids menu but didn't have it printed out. The food was good but expensive. At the new location (same strip mall, around the corner) has more seating space, it's well decorated. The bar is bigger which... fit more seating as well. The food was excellent as always & dessert. Read more

The food here is soooooo delicious and completely authentic Puerto Rican recipes! We are from Puerto Rico and it?s rare to find... food away from the island this good. Everything we?ve ordered is very tasty and well presented. From the pork (Pernil) and fishto all of the sides. The owner of this location is super and loves her customers. Her son runs the larger restaurant at thesecond location. We will try that one soon. We?ve ordered take out and we?ve eaten in, it?s always cooked to perfection. Read more

Authentic and delicious Puerto Rican fare. Very friendly service.the pina coladas were huge and strong, one kept me busy sipping... throughout the entire meal. This food is all new to me but my friend's family is from Puerto Rico and he approved of everythingwe tried. The restaurant happens to be right next to a gas station which was strange as first, but as soon as you enter, thespace is lovely. It's clean, crisp and modern and very casual. Read more

For first-timers, if you find yourself pulling into a gas station, you are at the right place. This is connected to a gas... station (but has its own entrance) We wanted to try some different flavors, so we drove out to El Caribeno because the reviewslooked promising. Don't believe them! The AMBIANCE: Not bad. They decorated the place nicely, considering you look out thewall of windows to gas pumps. The SERVICE: We were the only people in the restaurant and there were three people taking careof our table, but we still felt ignored for the first half of our meal. They are all dressed very casually and do not look likethey work there. Our main server had 2.5" fingernails which gross me out because who knows where those things have been or howwell she excavates underneath them. The owner, I'd presume (a lady), was helpful when we needed refills and we hand to callthem out to her. The FOOD: Putting aside the fact that, perhaps, Puerto Rican food isn't my 'cup of tea', there are things theycould do better. The chicken looked unnaturally cut into a brick shape for my wife. It was very dry. All chicken wasovercooked. The mofongo was a giant ball of dry mashed plantain with too much garlic. To top it all off, the prices were abouttwice what I'd put them at if I was being reasonable. I still can't believe a kid's meal costs $9.00! Everything on the menuis about 30-50% too high (and that is assuming the food wasn't overcooked and dry). The FORCED TIP!?!? Honestly, I hate forcedtips. Let "ME" decide how much you deserve for a tip. I'm a fair/generous tipper, but when you slam an 18% tip on my receiptfor just my family (3 adults and 3 kids)? Forget it! You are not getting a flippin' penny more. Needless to say, I think theoverall rating for this place is skewed. We will never be back. I wanted to like it, but our experience was pretty terrible. First off. Amazingly friendly service. Fresh and fragrant drinks. Bright and welcoming atmosphere even on a stormy day we were... taken to the island for just a moment. Secondly the food is stunning to just look at, even the fried food looks better thaneverywhere else I've been lately. The flavor and presentation is on point and my wife and I will most definitely be back. Bigprops to the cooks, wait staff!!!! ???? Read more
