What the heck happened? I haven?t been to a Steak and Shake in awhile and I was floored walking into one tonight with my kids. ... First, the lot was empty - it never used to be. We walk in and there?s no waitress. In fact, they just don?t do that anymore.The menu is on the wall, you order at the counter, and they bring it to your table. Don?t worry though, even though they?ve laidoff their waitresses, they?ll pass that cost to you by asking you to tip counter staff! The menu is completely gutted. There?svery few options and the prices have more than doubled. I?m 100% serious. The chicken tender basket used to be $4. They put apiece of bread and a cup of cheese in the basket and you have to buy it as a ?deconstructed horseshoe? for $12!!!! The tableswere filthy and the condiments/napkins all unstocked - duh, there?s no dining room staff. This is absolutely the last time I?llgo to any Steak and Shake, and I doubt they?ll be around much longer anyhow. Seriously - placed was crowded every night beforethis. Sad. Read more

For the past several years I have lived outside of Illinois with no Steak and Shake available. While driving through... Springfield I was eagerly anticipating having a Steak burger and fries, which I did. I wish I had saved my money. There was noother customers present so when they served a cold hamburger I couldn't believe it. I picked it up at the drive through and atein my hotel room, only a couple of minutes away. Not far enough to cause it to be cold. I would guess they made it earlierthat day (I'm being kind) and just threw it in a bag. Please reconsider eating here. Read more
Rang up wrong burger. Girl was walking around with a tray yelling over and over "who ordered BBQ burger". I finally looked at my... receipt. I asked for Butter burger but rang me up for BBQ. When I did get the correct burger (which comes with sauté onions) ithad 2 slivers of onion. Also, the BBQ burger I paid for cost more than the burger I got and I didn't get refunded the differenceor even a apology. Very disappointed in the entire experience! Read more
The worker at the drive thru was holding a vape when he opened the window. This is the way my shake looked after taking off the... lid. Both things were equally disturbing. We will not be returning to this location!! Read more
Seven other people inside the restaurant when we were seated. Very slow service. The waiter DeJon was very nice. The rest of the... staff well that's another issue. Took our order at 8:14pm and served our food at 8:37pm. Simple double cheeseburger and fries,that's it. Watched several employees just lounging around the service counter l. Not impressed when I received Cajun friesinstead of the parmesannn I ordered. Itbwas even wrong on the ticket. Never saw our waiter for additional help or inquires. Went thru the drive thru first tried to give us the wrong order. Then I had to go in to tell your cook that was also working the... drive thru that we didn't get our fries or drink .He then said yes you got your fries I said look in the bag then gave me myfries and drink very rude he was so I was rude back that's the last time I'll spend my money there.Would not recommended themfood wasn't even worth it .Maybe hire people that can do the job .
