Good chili, good craft beer choices, and good prices. And, if you can eat outside, it can be a great experience. Unfortunately,... if you want to eat inside, just know that you will come out smelling like smoke. They allow smoking in the pool hall in theback, and although it is on a separate ventilation system, it does not keep the smell of smoke out of the restaurant side. It'snot faint either, you will smell it the whole time you eat and your clothes will smell of it afterwards. I am sure it must workout for them to have one of the few places left where people can smoke indoors in the area, but if you are sensitive to it, planon getting your food to go, or try the outdoor tables. My husband and I have popped by this Hard Times location a few times over the years for chili mac, wings, and their weekend... breakfast buffet, and went there this evening to try their dinner entrees for the first time because they have daily specials,and customers can get $3 each entree on Saturdays. My husband got their sirloin tips (+ sides of onion rings and cilantrorice), and I got their fish and chips (+ cilantro rice), and we were both pleasantly surprised by how large, delicious, andfresh their entrees are. The sirloin tips are so tender and have a delicious char. The cod and French fries were very fresh(definitely not from frozen)! Overall, great prices for much better than expected food! Called on a Sunday evening about 7pm, to do a take out order. The person who answered put me on hold for about 15-17 minutes,... never took my order. Eventually, the call dropped, so I called back , it would ring and ring no answer! Tried several times ,noanswer so I gave up! Called another Restaurant, that was interested in having customers, spent my $$$ there! Now I know why It?scalled ?Hard Times ? and why so many of their locations in the DMV have closed permanently!
