Eat here, it's wonderful! Hot Peppercorn is much closer to New York's Chinatown than to white bread American Chinese. We've... never had a bad meal here and this time we tried the Salty Fish with Eggplant and Chicken, and it was fantastic! The staff weresurprised that a white lady would order this, and asked if we really did like it. The answer was Absolutely, a newfavorite! It's a lovely, generous stew of eggplant and chicken pieces, and the "salty fish" part turns out to be more of aflavoring ingredient than anything else--we finally found that part, it's very small bits of something like an anchovy.Whatever, try it try it try it, you won't be sorry! Dim sum is 5 super stars here! Everything was so good, the pork belly was cooked in a very unique style I've never had before... but it was good! I especially loved the flat noodles and the soup dumplings! I must proclaim that this restaurant is now my go to for dim sum and dry hot pot. The shrimp shumai was perfection, not gummy at... all, as I've had in other places. The fried pork was better than my favorite place in NJ, but the dry hot pot was the mainevent. Delicious beef, lotus, and with an assortment of veggies with the right combination of savory and spicy was the Winner!!I'm ready to return to finish ordering the rest of the menu. Read more
First time visiting here, and will come back again. The chicken corn soup, salt pepper pork chop, and orange chicken were all... delicious (although our youngest didn't like the soup or chicken, but loved the pork). First time ordering the cumin beef, andit was amazing. Read more
Hot Peppercorns in Springfield, VA was under a different name and maybe different management too, i stopped going there for over... four years because the food was not good. Today i really wanted dim sum and all the usual places i don?t like anymore becausetheir quality of the food had gone downhill. My favorite dim sum place ?Fortunate? is closed. I was so happy to find HotPeppercorns, i almost didn?t go in because i thought it was the old restaurant that i didn?t like. Thanks goodness i went inand so happy i was wrong, the flavors and quality of the food as i remembered dim sum to be and had in the past. I ordered alot more dishes than shown in pictures. Ordered the Orange chicken, Beef Lo main, traditional dumplings, chicken gyoza, scallion pancakes, and crab and cream cheese... wonton. Food was amazing and staff was friendly and welcoming. Visiting from the Northeast the food was delicious and highlyrecommended. Read more
Delicious dim sum dishes as well as classic Chinese favorites. Some changes in the menu compared to the older Golden Hong Kong... restaurant but the food is still top notch delicious. Roast duck was spot on along with the beef chow fun. Delicious dim sumfrom egg tarts, to the custard buns was amazing. Deep fried eggplant I will pass on for next time but it was still quite good. This place used to be Golden Hong Kong but got a new owner and changed the restaurant name. Since it was open, we had already... come here for lunch and dim sum a few times. The taste and quality are way better than the old restaurant. However, today ourdim sum portion got shrunk to mini size for the same price, which I found a little disappointing. Read more
