Went here yesterday with my aunt for lunch. I ordered the supreme nachos and let me just say it was the most horrifying... experience I?ve ever had. I began eating and felt a weird texture in my mouth. I tasted grass. I opened my mouth and pulled outa full size green leaf. I managed to put it to the side and keep eating. I then bit into a big piece of chicken. I immediatelyspit up all over my plate. It tasted like PURE MOLD! I turned it over and it was black and gray. Made me so nauseous. On top ofthat, the waiter was rude and rushing. He didn?t ask what we wanted to drink, just offered us water. This has always been one ofmy favorite places. I will never be going back! Ever since moving to this are I've been on the lookout for street tacos and I have had them from a ton of places around here.... This place has some of the best street tacos in St Louis! I have gone back almost every week since I found them and have triedother thing all of which were awesome. This is now my families go to when it comes to tex mex. Read more
The restaurant was clean and the food was great! I got the fajita Taco salad. It was massive! They have a great menu with many... options. I also loved that there were more options for kids than any other Mexican restaurant I have ever been to. It seemedlike our server may have been new, but he did a fairly good job until we did not get our kid's food. We ordered the kids foodfirst to get them fed, but our food came first and it seemed like the kid's meals hadn't been started. They quickly made thekids food and brought it out fast. We have been going to El Maguey since the 90?s. Consistently, hands down my favorite Mexican restaurant in St. Louis. My normal... go to is tostadas or chicken taco salad. Last night I tried something new, tamales. Delightful! Space is beautifully decoratedand staff more than kind. ?? Read more
I've had amazing experiences at El Maguey, and less impressive ones. This one was okay. I love this location, with its... beautiful chairs and art. The server was also very kind and prompt. However, the meal itself was quite bland, and the chips werevery stale. I wound up skipping the chips and adding the salsa to my dish. (I had the Tilapia Cancún.) My dish also did notcome with the tortillas listed on the menu. The bathroom is largely clean and is accessible. However, one of the toilets wasnot at all clean. This may have happened the same day, meaning staff may not have been aware. The rest of the space wasextremely clean. Read more
Phenomenal food and service! This is my favorite Maguey location by far. I enjoy myself each time.
I got the callejeros tacos with shrimp and carne asada and it was very good - have always enjoyed what I have gotten here. Also... ordered a jumbo frozen lime margarita - more than enough for me to drink! ???? The jumbo is probably equivalent to two normalsized drinks. They were also short staffed there today, and super busy, and still managed excellent service. It's a smallerlocation but just as solid as the bigger ones. Read more
