Traveling through St Louis and took a chance on this place. So glad we found it and took the time to exit interstate. Had the... brisket tray and pork tray. Both were amazing! Just the right moistness and sauces were great. Love the small town-historicdistrict vibe. Staff friendly and prompt. Take the time to visit this place and walk the Dogtown neighborhood. Read more

If you look at my review history I can be brutally honest when it comes to a less than stellar food experience (23 years... travelling as an airline pilot can do that) so don't take this lightly about what I am about to write.... Hogtown hassucceeded, by far, in making THE BEST ribs and wings I have ever had. The rub and cooking technique they use is perfection withthe wings being big, juicy with lots of smoke and ridiculously good flavor from the rub they use. The ribs were no different asthey too were big, meaty (very little fat), fall off the bone tender, juicy with a crisp caramelized bark of deliciousness. Idid not use sauce on either the wings or ribs because they didn't need it whatsoever. I did sample the sauce I got on the sideand it was delicious. One word of caution, I much like a sweet/savory flavor profile so the rub might be a little sweet for somebut one of their vinegar forward based sauces might be a great offset to the sweetness. It's clear they have mastered thetechnique of wing and rib smoking/cooking/holding and serving. For the record I also tried the brisket but it was shortly beforeclosing time and I might have not received the best example of what they can do so I will withhold my review on the brisket andtry it again along with some pulled pork (although I might not because the wings and ribs were sooooo perfect!). Lastly, theservice was fantastic and friendly making this place a real gem. Looking forward to being back in town after Thanksgiving!! Read more

We had an awesome experience at Hogtown Smokehouse! There were several open parking spaces along the street was a nice day, so... we ate outside in the courtyard. The menu had many options and our group of 11 mostly went for the pork sandwiches and thebrisket trays. We tried several different sauces and everyone found one they liked. I found three I liked and want to try somedifferent ones the next time we go. Because we will be going back! The food and service was excellent. The brisket I had wasamazing, and everyone bragged on the taste of their food. I would highly recommend eating at Hogtown! Read more

This is a tiny little neighborhood joint, not a big fancy place. The back patio is nice and shaded. We had really fine STL style... ribs and brisket. The rub on the ribs was delicious and complex. There's a fair bit of herbs and a slight sweetness to it.Brisket was tender and juicy, served with a sprinkle of coarse salt. Pit beans are loaded with burnt ends and sausage. Niceselection of local beers. Definitely worth seeking out! Read more

Great little spot in Dogtown. Gotta get there early for the best selection. Small batch smokehouse and everything we have tried... has been great. Pork steaks, brisket, pulled pork, and good chili when they have it. Fast and friendly service and an outdoordining patio. Read more
