I visited Sidney Street Cafe on a work trip with 6 colleagues. We sat in the bar at tables and were attentively served by... Richard. He is a treasure and provided an unforgettable experience for the group. Wine, food, and cocktails were top-notch. Ihad the halibut with a side of collard greens and there was not a morsel left. I haven't ever done this, but I liked it so much, I went back the next night to eat there again! If you can, get their tartare,... and order the polenta with whatever else is going to make you happy. Either (or both) salad and soup (creamy and flavorfulsquash soup! Amen!) will make you glad you chose them. The brisket is smoky and falls apart in the very best way. The scallopsare tender and tasty. The dessert items and accompanying libations are a wonderful and worth it splurge. On your own, or a smallparty without a reservation? Try sitting at the bar, where the bartenders are ready with interesting conversation and insightfulmenu suggestions. 11/10 on a scale of 10. Read more

Good service, tasty food, and chairs noteworthy for being comfortable only for very small, short-legged people. Overall the food... was very good but there were some off notes. The dressing on the house salad, while a vinaigrette, tasted overwhelmingly ofvinegar, which was a shame because the greens were beautiful. Those loving the ubiquitous trend for sweet dressings might stillfind contentment though. The pork chop with reduction was tender but quite salty and the trumpet mushroom side was weirdlysweet. I never thought to pair mushrooms with a cloying sweet sauce and now know why. The tartar was very good with strong notesof cumin and the beef cheeks were like the very best pot roast you've never had until now. The jerk quail was very tasty andfried, but had virtually no jerk flavor. The dark chocolate brownie was a thing of beauty. Previous comments highlight smallportions and that holds true. Accompanying the beef cheeks were a tablespoon of mashed potatoes and two baby carrots. It's agood restaurant with a reasonably priced wine list that could benefit from taking away the chef's salt shaker and sugar bowl -oh, and speeding up service or getting better chairs. Read more

One of the finest culinary experiences in STL! Nestled near Benton park/ Soulard area - a nondescript building from outside but... as soon as you enter, the brick walls, the bar area and stand and can lighting will appeal sophistication. We had Westley asserver and he was 5 star all the way. They have elaborate wine and liquor selection and they can even make some great mock tailson the fly. It’s cozy atmosphere but very good utilization of space and service is fast. You won’t go wrong with Lobsterturnover or Veal dumplings for starters. Entree and A la carte dishes have great choices - if you are going for A la carte dishthen a salad (try the apple salad- it was one of the most delicious part of the meal) or soup and side dish is highlyrecommended as portion sizes are small - but love the plating! Don’t skip the desert menu and if you are adventurous go forthe Espresso martin. Definitely coming here again!! Read more
