We've been driving by this nondescript basement gem for over a year and had no idea it existed. That changed when I ventured... downstairs from the snow-covered sidewalk and asked how someone in a wheelchair could access the dining room. We were escortedin the elevator to the dimly lit, rustic bar and dining room (that had a slight detour along the kitchen), and it only added tothe anticipation of a new dining experience! Let me say, the staff (especially the hostess) were so kind and accommodating thatthe food could have been terrible and we would have come back! Luckily, that was not the case, and the ONLY reason for four offive stars on the food is that the pork enchilada was really a quesadilla. Meals were prepared tastefully, and presented withsincerity in a pleasant mix of basic, yet bold. The French Onion Soup was hearty and rich (but needed the traditional crust ofstale bread...hint hint) and satisfying as a meal itself -- especially paired with the daily bread board. The daily selectionwas a maple cinnamon that was good enough to take a load home. The enchilada was delicious, but without sauce, should morelikely be called a great tender pork and tangy cheese quesadilla. Service start to finish was hometown friendly with naturalconversation, smiles, and shares. Don't skip a taste of the house made dill pickles that'll beat your taste buds like a SourPatch Kid! Kingdom Table is a cute restaurant right in the downtown area. At 7pm on a Saturday night, they were pretty slammed so be sure... to call ahead (upstairs) to make a reservation. The food was ok - the appetizers were good. We had poutine and maple bbq wings(definitely try these). For my entree, I ordered the pasta of the day which I found quite spicy, but ok overall. My boyfriendgot the Local Burger which he said was also pretty good, but nothing overly special. The service was fast and the drinks wereexcellent. Atmosphere is good for a semi-casual date night. We will definitely be back! Read more

Only 1 waitress and one trainee on duty. Food was very underwhelming. Had people come in after us and got better service than... our table.?? The live music could have been better if the keyboard didnt drown out the singer. Feel free to move this review tothe taproom since that's the part downstairs. The part upstairs... if the food was the same as down, kind of glad we didnt havea reservation, at least we sort of had music. Do not recommend. St Jay needs to stop trying to be so bougie. Amazing staff, atmosphere, beer, and food. It was our servers first day (Charlie) and he went above and beyond. Everything I ate... was phenomenal. My husband and I had the cottage pie and BLT. Both dishes did not disappoint. I never get desserts when I go outbut today I did. We will return. Read more

Waited in line patiently for 30 minutes. Finally get to the hostess who says "we just got told of a 20 minute wait for seating.... I can take a number and call you". Exactly where is St. Johnsbury shall we go? I get being short staffed, have family andfriends in the business. But there is no reason people couldn't be sat with a drink at the several open tables that were bothinside and out. Won't bother coming back. Waste of time. Read more

1st impression was that help was more interested in chatting then greeting. 2nd impression happened when I stepped on a French... fry near my chair. There were also french fries under the next table. Our waitress was nice but received ice tea with nothingto stir with, in fact no silverware at all. Food was actually good. We had eggs benedict with brisket,an omelet and the berrysalad with quinoa. All quite good. One suggestion would be to do actual home fries vs from frozen but overall I can recommendthe food. There was a biker who came in waited and left. Lost business. Bathroom trash bucket was overflowing with paper towels.Staff was nice but unaware of the impressions they made. Think they are fine just need a bit of training. Read more

Food was amazing! Stopped by later in the evening, had the Downstreet Burger and poutine. Should have had a beer or something... else, but wasn't up to it then. I have to talk up the food. It is DAMN GOOD. I haven't had a perfect burger in such a longtime... it was fantastically-smoky, sweet, juicy, savory, and was complemented with the saltiness of the poutine. Speaking of,every fry that wasn't drowned with gravy was crispy. These are big, chunky cut fries that were CRISPY... I really was blownaway. The brown gravy for the poutine made me think of a less peppered brown gravy that you got from KFC... you know thatweirdly-memorable KFC brown gravy on that mash? But it was better. And they didn't skimp on the cheese, either! I was told thatthey have Lagavulin 16 here... wish I had known that, ha. From what I could tell, they didn't have a HUGE selection ofwhiskey... mostly the more common stuff. Which isn't a bad thing... you're probably coming here for the beer anyway. Atmospherewas good, wasn't too loud with music, lighting was good (wasn't super dim), people were having a good time. Staff was veryfriendly and attentive. Definitely stopping by here again any time I'm in the area! Read more
