Best food I have had in a long time. It is a very down to earth atmosphere with friendly staff and amazing food. I got the... tavern wagyu burger and my wife got the shaved prime rib sandwich. Finally decided to check out the ?newly renovated? Tavern. Atmosphere is very nice but it ends there. We got the pork chop,... steak, and 1/2 chicken. All three entrees tasted like they were soaked in salt water for days. Brussels sprouts were burned,asparagus was super salty. Used to eat at Pat?s Tavern once a week (always outstanding). This is a must stop in Happy Valley ????. Even a typical meal has an amazing taste and twist to it. Yum yum. The Tavern has reopened and it is better than ever! We happened to be in State College on one of their openings nights and so we... thought we would give The ?new? Tavern a try. I don?t usually write reviews but The Tavern deserves to be recognized. It has afresh new look that still maintains the traditions and nostalgia of the past. The Tavern?s updated menu has something foreveryone?with options ranging from salads to seafood to pasta and beef which is locally sourced. Plus there are fresh new sideoptions to choose from on the menu. Everyone in my group of six said their appetizers, entrees and sides were cooked toperfection and delicious! The desserts are amazing too! The service at the bar and our table was excellent. In my opinion, TheTavern now has the best food and service in State College. In addition to that, it is worth going just to see all the amazingPSU photos and memorabilia and have a drink at one of their new bars including an upstairs outdoor bar! There are fun newcocktails on the drink menu plus a few old favorites like the Original Sin. The Tavern and Adam?s Apple have always been specialplaces but they are truly incredible now!
