They're pretty good with the food they n serve but Not for the prices they serve them at... Over priced like as if they're a... real city, fancy restaurant and they aren't as good as them nor are they at a big city location to be charging what theydo.. People's wages are lower here hence prices of restaurants Usually reflect that. So my son and I decided to go out to Candlelight and grab us some famous Chicken George. From the moment we entered we were... greeted with a smile, and a warm welcoming. We then were seated and had the friendliest and sweetest waitress, Desi. She greetedus with a warm smile, and made us feel at home. We ordered and as I was a little confused about what to get and the menu, shewas patient and went over it with me and gave me some good suggestions! She went above and beyond and was sure a treat! Shealways made sure my son's drink was full and our food was hot, delicious and we did not wait long at all on our food. All aroundamazing service and I love this Candlelight by far better than any others. Desi made sure we were taking care off and is so goodat her job. Soft spoken, sweet, and so good. She makes you feel like you are not just another table but you are family. I willbe back because that was THE BEST SERVICE ever! I came into the Candlelight Inn in Sterling Illinois for the last time on Sunday, October 23rd, 2022. The last time I was here... it was a traditional experience with ordering appetizers, a meal with side salad or soup, and the plate you ordered. Sincethen, Candlelight has switched to Ala Carte menu where everything is an additional upfront cost and that affects the timing of ameal service. Don't lie to me and break it apart, just increase the menu price to compensate. Really brought the experiencedown. But if that wasn't enough to make us feel poor- enter our server. I am withholding this person's name and gender becausethey did this subconsciously and meant well by it, but it did affect the experience negatively. Their first "help" was byremarking our app order as a platter but with substitutions. Everyone ordered their own app but we got it all piled on oneplatter "to save money". If I wanted to save money, I would have ordered it like that. But then that person's second "help"was in entering two half-pound chicken George orders as one 1-pound order and two sides. When it was brought out, it wasbrought out as that person entered it. A 1-lb plate, two sides, and an empty plate with a Jan's sauce on it. Let me beclear-they were not rude to us, at least not directly. But this entire experience has soiled me enough that I no longer wish totake my family to this or any other Candlelight Inn in Northwestern Illinois or Clinton Iowa. Had gone for 20 of my years andit was the thing I wanted to take my extended family to when I got home from California to visit them. We had a great dining experience! We were just passing through and happened to find this restaurant through Google. Grabbed a pound of the famous "Chicken George" while on the way to the Quad Cities. Very lightly breaded chicken tenders with... several interesting sauce options. Good meal. Salad was very fresh. Had the chicken George. I mean that's what they are known for so, when in Rome...It is... basically chicken strips with a vinegar based sauce. The chicken was lightly breaded and juicy. It was cooked perfectly. Ireally liked the sauce. I didn't think I would, but it had a nice flavor. Had mashed potatoes as a side (I mean I had a salad soI earned the potatoes ????) they were good, gravy was very peppery. If you have a chance, stop in, no regrets. Read more
