We started out with some martinis over at the bar in the Red Lion Inn, but for dinner, Once Upon a Table can?t be beat. The... location back up the alley is romantic, the staff is friendly and accommodating, and the FOOD is exquisite. We had the chilledspring pea soup and it even made my pea-cautious husband happy. I know it won?t always be on the menu, but it?s an example ofthe chefs? creativity and talent to make a humble vegetable beautiful. Amazing meal at Once Upon A Table, adorable outdoor seating in a more private area. Everything was delicious, but especially the... Gnocchi and the Creme Brûlée. What really made this meal special though, was the amazing service from our waitress Shanique,who had such a kind, attentive, and inviting energy. Definitely coming back on our vacation next year. One thing I would say isto make sure you plan a reservation way in advance, we somehow got one a few hours before by luck but we saw many turned awaybecause they have limited seating. Wow wow wow! The food here is indescribably good! Very unassuming little place so the quality of the food is a bit surprising.... We?ve tried the lamb chops (incredible), Gorgonzola gnocchi (subtle but very delicious), almond crusted cod, and salmon. Weleave satisfied any time we come or get take out. Highly recommend! We have been enjoying this establishment for 20 years. Sadly, we will not return under this management. I have never been so... rudely treated. We were, literally, told to leave. Our time ,apparently, was up. Do not misunderstand, we had not been loud, norhad we lingered beyond a reasonable time. We had 4 o'clock reservations. We were admitted at around 4:15. The wait was noproblem for us. Party of 4 adults. We had appetizers,dinner,and dessert. Our server was not overtly rude throughout our stay.Nor was she welcoming ,warm, or even friendly. We completed our desserts just before 6 pm. So, 15 minutes shy of a 2 hour timeslot.We were preparing to leave. We were told by our server to leave as she had a big party that needed our table and they werewaiting. WOW. We had been very pleasant and respectful . We left a 20% tip. Not a word of thanks, not an apology, or even asmile from her. The meal was fine, despite extremely limited offerings. It could have been a lovely evening, had we not beentreated as though we were a terrible inconvenience to our server. How we miss the old Once upon a Table, where we always feltwelcomed. There was one nice person there today, she smiled at us and thanked us for coming.Unfortunately I do not know hername. She was a tall, beautiful, friendly,young black woman.
