My wife and I are from North Carolina and have been searching for a year or more for the ultimate Mexican food restaurant. We... gave El Rancho a try which is about 45 minutes away. The staff, and the atmosphere was awesome. The manager and waitress werevery interactive, super nice. The food was fantastic. It was very clean. Typically good food and good service until the other day. Was accused of stealing a beer on a day I wasn't even there although... the day before I overpaid a grotesque amount ($54) for 2 people to eat there. They said I drank the beer, stepped outside tosmoke, then dashed. 3 things I don't do, smoke, drink beer, or dip out on a bill. They saw my coworker and instead of handlingthe situation professionally by saying "get your coworker to get in contact with us as soon as possible," in typical PCVAfashion they aired out dirty laundry letting my coworker know what supposedly happened. I had to go back through my bankstatement (thank goodness I paid with a card), to prove I was innocent. Didn't get an apology or anything to make it right, butlike El Rancho has said before where else are you going to go in Patrick County to eat? Maybe with all the money they get extrafrom price gouging they oughta be able to afford a camera out front to prevent this. Read more

This was my first time dining at this restaurant. When I was seated with my guest, we were told that we could only have one menu... to use between the two of us. There isn't a menu shortage... we just weren't allowed to have more than one. It seemed totallyridiculous to me, which is why I can NOT give this restaurant a five star. Our food was good and the service was great. Parkingwas easy and we didn't have to wait to be seated. Food portions were generous and the prices were reasonable. I definitelyrecommend this restaurant, but be aware that you may need extra time to determine your meal choices since menus are hard to comeby. Read more
