The Cast Iron Grill & Bar came as a recommendation that did not disappoint! We went on Saturday for their champagne brunch.... Wow! Right away our server brought some complimentary fruit and cake. The chocolate cake and cranberry cake were soft anddelicious. The fruit was perfectly ripe and full of flavor. The food was outstanding. The champagne with choice of juice formimosas were generous and a perfect accompaniment to our food. Our server was very attentive and made great recommendations onthe food. Friday night date night for me and wifey! Tonight there was a pretty good sized crowd, yet we were seated right away. This is a... place you can go dressed up or be casual. It's in the heart of the downtown area of old Suisun. Lots of other restaurants in thearea. Also next to a beautiful Marina and even a couple of hotels. We started with a couple of drinks. My wife ordered a MoscowMule and I had a Suisun Sour (their take on a whiskey sour). It was quite good. It was made with Templeton rye Whiskey, freshlemon juice, simple syrup, orange bitters and a Wooden Valley Sangiovese float. For our meal, we started with an order ofBrussels Sprouts. These are sautéed with crispy bacon and topped with a balsamic glaze, parmesan cheese and crispy onions. Nextup was the roasted pork belly. This dish is phenomenal! This rich pork belly is oven roasted with cinnamon and cloves. It isserved with roasted Napa cabbage and apple slaw. It is then topped with an apple cider glaze and crispy sweet potatoes. For ourmain course, we both decided to go with the Ahi Poké salad. This consisted of soy-ginger marinated raw ahi tuna. Served overmixed greens with cucumber, radish, avocado, edamame, carrot, mango, sesame seeds and crispy won ton with a sweet balsamicvinaigrette and spicy aioli. Dinner was fantastic! Excellent service from our female server! The other blond bartender/server needs to go easy on her personal perfume. Great little spot in Suisun. Erika was supper nice, didn't rush us and had good recommendations. Lamb burger, medium rare..... awesome. Had the garlic fries instead of regular.. they were good, but be ready for some GARLIC! Ordered the Pancetta Prawnswith Polenta off the apps menu. Plenty big to be a meal! Very good but I'd call them med shrimp, not prawns. But, there wasquite a few of them so we enjoyed it. Enjoyed the peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream. It was our first time at Cast Iron Grill and I have to say the food was delicious, my husband had the NY Strip with Parmesan... sauce, shrimp, mashed potatoes and steamed veggies and he ate everything he really enjoyed it! I had the seafood pasta, it wasalso delicious. We went on Father's day Sunday so I will blame the long waits on that, other than taking a bit long betweendishes the service was good and the server was friendly. Normally, I would give Cast Iron Grill & Bar 5 stars. The food and service is usually amazing, and it?s one of my most favorite... places to go. However, on Thanksgiving, I was extremely disappointed. Our usual traditional Thanksgiving dinner with family wascalled off due to an unforeseen situation. I still wanted to treat my kids to a nice meal. The prices were a lot higher and thequality was a lot lower. And, to add insult to injury, our server (whose name I?m going to leave out) was horrendous. She rarelycame by our table; I had to ask another server for bread, which is usually brought out when drinks are served. Our server toldme she?d been waiting on bread for a long time, but all the other tables had bread. Groups that were seated after us were allgetting their food way before us. When she dropped our food (finally), she asked if everything was good, prior to us even havinga bite. Then she never came back to check on us until we were done and waiting for the check. She recommended the scallopedpotatoes as a side, raving about how good they were. They were horrible. If she had come back sooner (or even at all before theend of the meal) I would have asked if I could have a side of mashed potatoes instead. I would?ve even paid extra. I wasready to go, disappointed & still hungry. I put out the credit card , showing that I was ready for the bill? eventually she cameby, picked it up, and ran it without even giving me the itemized bill. I?m not one to skip out on tipping, regardless? but Ionly left 15%. Her service was, by far, worth less than that. This one bad visit won?t keep me from returning. I love theirregular menu, the ambiance is great, and the service is usually outstanding. I will steer clear of her section when I go back.I?m actually offended at the lack of service she gave us, and kind of sad that my boys & I didn?t get to enjoy our Thanksgiving. Read more
