What a lovely discovery this place was! We had a large group, and although they were a little understaffed, Savannah (our... adorable waitress) was incredibly cheerful, attentive and eager to please us. She was racing around refilling glasses, delivering meals, and working hard, all the time, with a smile! In addition, the food was wonderful. I was impressed to find twovegan options and lots of variety in the menu and even happier that it all tasted great. I highly recommend this place fordrinks and dinner! Read more

Went there from a google search of vegan fare. They boasted a vast menu which should be good for most parties. Other than the... hot pot soup, Vegan options were any salad you put the tofu on... The hot pot was delicious btw!! With a name like Five Loavesyou would expect a nice fresh warm loaf of, or at least piece of bread on the table....We had to ask halfway through our meal...but was worth the wait. All in all good food, and great service. Read more

My husband and I went for brunch at Five Loaves in Sunday. We hadn?t been there in a while, so when we saw the brunch specials,... especially the vegan biscuits, we had to try them! We are not vegans, but the idea of them intrigued us and I am always a fanof stewed apples and pecans. It was absolutely amazing! We cleaned the plate and then wanted more. It was a wonderful appetizer, even coming from two people who love meat! The atmosphere and service was wonderful as well. We will absolutely be back (andordering the vegan biscuits and stewed apples!). Read more

Friendly staff. Greeted right when we came in. Pleasant atmosphere. Seated right away with no wait even though busy. ... Waitress was very knowledgeable about menu items. Great recommendations from her. The appetizers were amazing, the soups madein house fresh with a many local fresh ingredients we learned as possible. Now everywhere I go shrimp is cooked decent atleast. Some good. The chef here cooked the shrimp appetizer to perfection. The shrimp was deveined, perfectly seared. Not a hint ofrubber when just over done or over done, they were not undercooked and slimy. They were when I say the most perfectly cookedshrimp I have ever had, the best. Our food all came out hot and delicious. The chef had 2 special, a beautifully cookedcatfish over fettuccine Alfredo and beef stroganoff. This is easily one of our favorite restaurants in Summerville. Now theirdesserts are not in house but from saffron's downtown Charleston. I have to say, I'm not a fan of any dessert with shavedcoconut on it but the coconut cake they had there I would order and absolutely eat. I tried it and it melted in my mouth andsweet but not overly sweet. This goes wonderful with a cup of their coffee by the way. Read more

Came here for a ladies brunch. We got here a little before they opened and there was line. That's how you know they have good... food. Five Loaves Cafe did not disappoint. Everything was delicious. The mimosas were tasty as well (we got Raspberry andMango). We definitely will be coming back. What all we got: 2 different Shrimp and Grits (there was a special one came with darkgravy & mushrooms the other was with their Chorizo gravy), Southern Benny and I got the Vegetable Benny. ???????????? We use to come to five loaves all the time as our go to, but overtime quality has gone down. Our visit 5/6 has left us not... wanting to return. First thing we noticed after we sat was the sticker mentioning a fee being attached to every bill. The amountwas not specified nor were we informed by our server at any point. It?d be different if the servers informed us directly or eventhe amount listed but as far as you know, it could be 0.99 or $45. Then we ordered an appetizer with hush puppies. As you cansee from the photo, they were burnt and too hard to eat. They did remove them from our check. Then we had the beef tips. Theyjust were not up to par, over cooked meat and the noodles were very tough and chewy. My husband loved the chicken parmigiana andis so sad it was removed from the menu. Choices have become more limited and food quality has gone down. Service has never beena problem but I think the kitchen needs some extra training and attention. Read more
