We were in town for the weekend and were looking for good Jamaican food. Chef Rose had excellent reviews, so we decided to... swing through. When we walked in, we wondered if we were at the place. It was basically a kitchen with a pickup window, adrink cooler area and four seats. A very nice gentleman took the time to answer all of our questions and then took our order.He told us if we needed anything, just let him know. At that point, I asked him for his name. It was Chef Rose himself! Sincethe meal was cooked to order, it took about 40 minutes and it was well worth the wait! Everything was perfect! The jerk oxtail,jerk creole oxtail, curry goat, and all the sides were cooked to perfection. We sat there and indulged in our find. Afterwardwe had eaten our fill and packed our leftovers, we just had to get a photo with the talented artisan who hand-crafted the bestJamaican culinary experience that we had ever enjoyed anywhere, Jamaica included. Order ahead and avoid the wait. This place is the place to go for oxtail. I ordered the large and the portion size was... excellent. The price was more than fair. It came with rice and peas(beans), cabbage, and plantains. The flavors were over thetop. Besides my friend's mom's homemade oxtail, this place is the best I've ever had. My vegan meal today was amazing. I got the firm tofu & Ackee with Callaloo meal. It is vegan, gluten free, and nut free (uses... coconut in some dishes). It is made to order, so you can ask her to leave out or customize it to your preference or toaccommodate any allergies/food intolerances. The food was delicious, hot, and fresh. It is a take out place with a couplestools on a small table against the wall. You can call ahead of time to place your order, so it is ready when you get there. If not, you will have to wait for it to be cooked. The wait was totally worth it though. I am glad I found this place becauseof other reviews on here. So this was my second visit to Chef Rose, I went for the first time in July when I was there celebrating my birthday, this time... I was here on business and I actually went out of my way to come here again because I could t believe how good the food was thefirst time. So I got the exact same thing that I had the time before..jerk chicken, cabbage and plantains and once again I wasblown away by the flavor and freshness. I heard that the Ox Tail is even better, so I will be trying that on my next visit toFort Lauderdale. I went to several restaurants while I was there and the food here was by far the best. I even went to some ofthe nice restaurants at the guitar casino but none compared to this. Only two problems, there is no dine-in and you might haveto wait longer than usual so order way ahead..lol people there are very friendly, customers and employees. Our regular Jamaican spot closed so my husband and I decided on Chef Rose to see what all the hype was about. They did not... disappoint! Absolutely everything was 100% perfection. Which arrived more than hot from Ubereats no less. The brown stewchicken, curry goat, rice and peas, was fantastic. Hell, even the dumping and festival were clearly freshly made. At 9pm on aMonday. During a ppandemic.They even sent a really nice note. If Chef Rose sees this thank you for an absolutely incredible mealand enough for a second! This is one of the best restaurants I have ever had the experience of eating from and I have beenworking in them for over 25 years. I now know what all the talk was about.
