This place came recommended from a former Arizonian and was described as more authentic Mexican. After living in Tucson for a... couple year, I was excited to try it out. The restaurant is located in a shopping plaza adjacent to Safeway. The interior decorlooks like your typical Mexican restaurant. It's colorful and festive with lively, though a little too loud for my liking,music. The exterior patio is nice, though parking lot adjacent. You can see glimpses of the Mountain through the trees. Theservice was great. Our server was friendly and attentive, checking on us often, though we never felt rushed. The food came outquickly. Portion sizes were large and priced fairly. The reason I only gave three stars though, was because I found all the food(salsa and guacamole excluded) bland. The cheese enchiladas didn't have any spice, including the red chili sauce, and both therice and refried beans were bland. Maybe it's my Americanized taste buds wanting everything to be saltier, but I found myselfwishing there was a salt shaker on the table to make it more palatable. I order a strawberry margarita, and I would have swornthere was no tequila in it. It tasted like water down mixer. That was probably the biggest disappointment of the meal because agood margarita can make just okay food taste better. And the queso dip, while good, tasted like jarred Tostitos dip instead ofthe white queso that I've come to associate with most Mexican restaurants. My husband said his enchiladas were "just okay,"which I think perfectly sums up how I feel about the food. I'm tempted to think maybe this was just an off-night for thekitchen given all the other positive reviews, but with so many other dining options in the area, not sure if/when we will makeit back to give it a second chance. Good portions, nice staff. I didn’t like how she was opposed to letting my little sister order from the kids menu. Overall... good food I have been to a tequilas before just never this location it’s quite we came on a Wednesday after noon after lunch. Read more
Short version: Do yourself a favor and try this place, the food is amazing. Longer review: Tequila Mezchal has THE BEST Mexican... food I've been able to find in Colorado, and easily rivals the best places I've ever had in my life in NM and across thecountry. Even when they get incredibly busy their service has been unexpectedly swift and friendly, and I've also never found adrop in quality even during those times, they are consistently good. Their chicken and shredded beef is cooked to a perfecttenderness, and the spices and flavors throughout work so well together. Even with all of this, they still offer great portionsat reasonable prices! They are loved by their community, and it's plain they love their community right back. Read more
Best Mexican food I've ever had. Everything blew us away, and the friendly staff were amazing. Our favorite was the chorizo con... queso appetizer. But everything from the margaritas, cabbage salsa, rellenos, tostadas, skirt steak, fajitas, churros (creamfilled!), sopapillas, and fried ice cream were top notch.
