We checked out this place because of the great reviews. It did not disappoint. The fried flounder came in thick filets with... light seasoned coating, fried to perfection. The fish and chips were equally delicious. Their house made Ranch Chips are crispy,crunchy and perfectly seasoned. Portions are ample, the service was great and the owner checked on our satisfaction personally.It's a sports bar and grill so TVs are everywhere if you are interested in any games but they are not kept on overly loud. Wewill definitely go back on our next trip to Surf City. Read more
Place is very inviting. The staff was very friendly. We had a little hiccup with one of our drinks sitting on the bar for a few... minutes... but it was still good! We ordered the crab Nachos for appetizer. Very good. Their Bloody Mary is an appetizer initself!! I ordered the Shrimp Po Boy with their ranch chips... man that was on point! My wife ordered the Salmon with scallopsand shrimp with potatoes. Very pleasing to the palate!! The sauce and Potatoes knocked it out of the park!! Afterward I ordereda bit of their homemade ice cream.. strawberry and chocolate. Oh my goodness... while it wasn't what I was expecting I have tosay it was very tasty!! Almost like a frozen mousse. Honestly, the first thing we do when looking for new restaurants is review the google online reviews. We looked at the reviews... and they were mostly good with a few random one star reviews. Normally, we might look for another place but not so this timebecause of the owner responses to the poor reviews. We appreciated how thoroughly the owner dissected erroneous claims about hisbusiness and his blunt approach. Based on this, we knew we had to try it! The food was amazing! We had the fish and chips andthe mixed shrimp platter. The fish was breaded to perfection, flakey, and fresh. The shrimp was perfectly cooked as well. TheBrussels sprouts were season welled with a delightful amount of kick that was not overbearing. The coleslaw was fresh andlight. Anna, our server, was extremely attentive and made the experience even better. Overall, High Waters has great food,great atmosphere, great service and did we mention there is a television in the men?s room? If you?re in Surf City, check thisplace out. Read more
Hostess was very friendly. Waitress was not. The staff was standing around talking to each other the whole time we were there.... Food was a little pricey for what it was. Burgers were good but came with only a few fries. The bridge inside was pretty cool.My son said his catfish was delicious. Was something new to try but isn't a place I would visit twice. Read more
Five stars because of our server Dave! Dave made the dinner for our group of 7. Food was good for an island diner. I had the... burger which was done as requested. Stick with deep fried food maybe? The seafood platter was quite possibly the most terrifying thing I?ve seen in or out of the... ocean? The oysters may have been dead two years ago & the ?medium rare? steak was put on the grill last Thursday. I received anincorrect side of fries (thankfully because those were actually pretty good) but my potatoes could have been mistaken forprunes. Christopher was very friendly however, when told the seafood tower looked less than appetizing and the steak was overcooked, he did nothing to make the situation right. Very disappointing meal.
