We decided to try this place out after Mammy's was closed. There is ample parking, plenty of seating, and the menu is simple yet... accommodating of different tastes. The server was friendly and kind, and although she didn't check up on us while we ate, shewas pleasant and smiled while we ordered. Ate here a few weeks ago with the family on vacation to Surfside. Waited about 35 min for a family of 5. I got the 2 egg... special with cornhash and home-fries. Kids got pancakes and waffle. All were very good and didn't take long to come out onceordered. Prices were fair. Would def come back to the Golden Egg. They even spell out their logo on the waffles. Nice littletouch. The food, service, and cleanliness was very high! The potatoes were excellent, forgot to ask for the bacon to be crispy and it... came that way by default. The service was excellent, and the owner was pleasant and even gave me a free t-shirt. Oh I almostforgot that the prices are more reasonable than other nearby breakfast joints. Definitely the place to go in surfside! The restaurant was very busy when we arrived but we were seated and served right away. The orders came out fast as well. My... favorite part is that they give you your own carafe of coffee and it's very good. Our server was friendly and efficient. Thefood is really good. I got a ham omlet and it had a LOT of ham. Consider getting cheese only and meat on the side. The homefries are square soft, not crunchy potatoes. I feel those things are a matter of preference though, so not deducting from thereview. This is your standard American breakfast restaurant. Big portions and a variety of options. Being in South Carolina, you have... shrimp and crab meat options with your poach egg/English muffin combos. Service was nice. Food came out in a reasonable time. Coffee order or tea order bring you a full pot! Home fries portion is generous; I suggest adding some butter. They are fairlymild tasting so add pepper to your liking. French toast was excellent.
