Figured we would try out since it’s been about 7 years since the last time we came. Service is slow. Even though there are... many workers standing around. Everytime I asked one of them they always replied,” I don’t know I’ll tell your waitress.” 1 of my questions was,” do you have a children’s menu?” The waitress finally came over & when I asked if there was achildren’s menu she replied, “ well what do they want to eat? There are burgers & pasta on the menu. But we have Mac &cheese & normal kids items.” I asked if the items were childrens portions & prices she said no. Both my sons choose spaghetti& meatballs. Food was mediocre. Bill took a while to come & when it did it was incorrect. So we had to continue to wait for thewaitress to come back. She charged twice for my adult beverage. Charges separately for the spaghetti & meatballs. And the priceshe states for the special was incorrect charging us $4 extra. When I brought to her attention she said oh guess they raised it.She did take the extra drink off the check. However with no apologies. Wont be back again. Food wasn’t terrible. It wasedible. But the service was not up to par. Not friendly or diligent in their job. Read more

I don't usually leave reviews but I have to say- the service was phenomenal. Shannon was our waitress and treated us like gold-... quick service, very friendly, great conversation. My wife and I are new to the area (just moved here last week) and she made usfeel so welcome. Food was good (I ordered the wings and fries). THANK YOU SHANNON! Read more

My boyfriend and I came here last night for a meal and we sat outsider. we walked in and the bartender told us to pick a seat... outside and should be out in a minute. We were sitting out there for almost 15. My boyfriend had to go inside and order us twodrinks. By time the waitress came out to take our order our drinks were empty we asked for another round and glasses of water, put in our appetizers and meal. And waited an hour to get those appetizers and had to again ask for that second round of drinks. at this point it was now a little over two hours of us waiting for our food and it came freezing cold. The food was verygood, but I prefer my food warm especially my hot soup ! When they brought out our check we informed them of our foot food beingfreezing didn’t do anything to compensate us and they rushed us out. The only time all night when things happen quickly. Itwas our first time there, since we’re new to the area. I have heard great things and I honestly was so excited to try it butafter last night I’m not sure if I’ll be back! Read more

My husband and I came to have dinner last night (Friday) after hiking the Stairway to Heaven. This place is also a little time... capsule of Heaven! We entered through through the dining room and were immediately seated ?? Drink orders were taken quicklyand served just as fast. We ordered French onion soup and loaded spuds (I think thats what they're called - aka potato skins). Both were amazing! Warm bread and butter was served ahead of any food too! Entrees were sea scallops and one of their specials, seafood over linguini. The sea scallops were PHENOMENAL! The seafood pasta was good too! There was a live singer who was reallygreat and we love the accompaniment to our dinner. This place is truly a gem in Vernon and while it was our first - it won't bethe last! FYI - while we had one server attend to us for ordering, everyone around was helpful providing anything we needed. Read more

I have to say, when we first walked in, it seemed very dated, and dark. It took an exceptionally long time to get our food order... out in. We were actually about to walk out. But the waitress finally came over and apologized. She explained how they do thingsin an order. When the waitress sees your drinks are served, she will come and take your order. It took a long time to get ourdrinks, hence the long wait for food order. But like I said, she did apologize for that. Not to mention she was the onlywaitress, and we could clearly see she was running around to care for everyone. No one can be faulted for that. And once thefood was served, she did keep up with checking in. And she was very friendly. And I'd have to say, the food was definitely good.So by the time we were done, we were both satisfied. I would go back there again. So if you don't mind it being dark and dated (I was able to get past that, it did appear clean), I recommend giving it a chance. Read more

***3 1/2 stars*** The Lamp Post Inn was the site of a post-snowtubing lunch on Superbowl Sunday. It looked intriguing/eclectic... from afar, and it certainly was that. If you grew up in the 70s or 80s, you absolutely had a grandparent whose basement had woodpaneling like this. It doesn't look like the dining area has been updated in decades, and I'm all for it; Jimmy Carter couldhave stopped here on a campaign swing. The booths looked especially cozy, but we had a party of eight, alas, and sat at astandalone table. Framed pithy sayings/aphorisms were all over the walls. There was a more modern/standard bar area further intothe restaurant, but I enjoyed eating in my time vortex. We ordered a bunch of standard bar apps to start, which included mozzysticks and tater skins. Both were excellent. I'm usually slightly positive (though not overwhelmingly so) on mozzy sticks. Ithink it's really easy to mess them up texture-wise, but these were perfect. Just the right amount of crispness without veeringinto unpleasant soggy territory. The tater skins were more like wedges than straight-up potato halves, which I was definitelyinto - better serving sizes, and none of the pieces were overdone. Also, I ordered a glass of wine that, I'm not kidding, wasless than $5. This was not a Happy Hour - it was the normal price. Sussex County is such a delight. For my entree, I went withthe penne vodka. It was tasty with a decent but not overwhelming portion (one companion commented that the appetizer portionswere larger than the entrees, which seemed accurate to me - not really a negative or a positive, I suppose). Since I hadaccidentally gorged on the taters, I had leftovers (which held up well the next day), but you could easily eat this in one fellswoop if you're not being too naughty otherwise. Have I had better? Yes, but this was perfectly fine, just a littlebland. Dessert-wise, a couple of us ordered the apple crisp ala mode and the peanut butter cream pie to split. The Read more
