I'm so grateful to have stumbled upon Riverside Steak & Seafood last night. The staff were welcoming and went out of the way to... ensure a wonderful experience for our large party on short notice. (Next time I'll make a reservation!) The meal was marvelous. The staff were courteous, knowledgeable, friendly, and prompt (even though they were busy). I found this fine restaurant byaccident, but I'll be back on purpose! Read more

This was our first time here and I want to be as kind as possible, because the people here are great and gave us good service.... The food was hit and miss. Some really good stuff and some that was somewhat bland. To start, the wine was good, but the Gin &Tonic was served with flat tonic water and no lime. It didn't taste great and was watered down. Appetizers were fried oystersand scallop nachos. The oysters were okay and the scallop nachos were amazing (just wish there was more). I had the crab cakesw/red potatoes. My wife liked the crab cakes, but I didn't care for them, but to be fair, I've had some amazing crab cakesbefore. The red potatoes are literally just boiled potatoes with no seasoning. The rest of the family enjoyed their meals, butmy daughter had a grilled cheese that came out burned. They rectified that issue before we even said anything and replaced it(like I said, the service was great). All in all, the service was great, the drinks missed the mark, food was decent, but forthe price, the expectations fell short on the food & drink side. This was a birthday dinner and I think we always set ourexpectations too high on our birthdays, so I tried to be fair in my review. Read more

If you're tired of the "tourist trap" kind of places come here. They know how to cook and the prices are worth it. I went with a... large party and got a chance to sample a number of their dishes. Every dish was amazing. It's about as fresh and homemade as youcan get. My personal recommendations... 1. Get their scallop nachos as an appetizer 2. For the main course go with the lobsterstuff ravioli. 3. Dessert - any/all 4. Come hungry! Read more

Wonderful experience! My wife and I started with scallop nachos: superb! Next we had salads with the hot bacon dressing:... delicious! Entrees were Mahi Andouille: fantastic! The fried oysters were PERFECT. THE BEST IVE EVER EATEN. Lightly breaded, perfectly moist! And Grouper Pico: Excellent! Beautiful presentation of a delicately flaked, moist grouper with perfectblackened spices. We enjoyed the excellent coordination between our server and the cook staff. As we finished a course, thenext course came quickly; no overlap with multiple courses on the table. I enjoyed a Whitestreet Scottish Ale! We have livedin Charleston for awhile and this restaurant is on par with anything in Charleston!!! We now live in this beautifularea. Wonderful!!! We will be back to enjoy again. Read more

This is unfortunate. Let me start by saying Krystal, our waitress, is the best waitress on earth. My wife and I enjoyed dinner... here once before this experience as we live right down the road. It is one of the most expensive, if not the most expensiverestaurant in Swansboro. However, the plating and experience lends itself to a higher end restaurant. I mean, we aren't in NYhere so fine dining choices are limited. That being said, when you charge these prices, the food, the experience, theatmosphere, and the treatment of people MUST go along with the price, especially if you are the owner. This trip was a birthdaydinner for my father in-law and my son. There were 6 of us. We ordered 4 of the specials, an appetizer, a baked ziti, 2 glassesof beer, a glass of wine, and other non-alcoholic drinks. The specials don't have prices and they don't offer the prices forthem without you asking. This is normal for higher end restaurants and I didn't mind. Everything was good until my mother in-lawtasted her grouper. Now, it goes without saying that food and taste are subjective. My mother in-law mentioned that her fish wasvery bland to us. This is a special dish that was told to her upon sitting down and it happened to be $32.95 which is ok. Hereis what is not ok. The owner came up to the table as we were talking. He asked, "How was everything?". This question lendsitself to criticism if there is any. (Keep in mind that my in-laws are incredible, kind people that are careful NOT to offendpeople) I mentioned that things were good on my side and my mother in-law mentioned that her food was bland and didn't haveflavor. My father in-law very politely said he thinks they forgot to season her fish. The owner then immediately, interruptingmy father in-law a bit, says, "That's how we do it here. It's just flour with a touch of salt & pepper. We want you to be ableto taste the fish." Before he finished the last word he turns and walks off...as to show us that we've offende Read more

This place has been a local favorite for many many years and it remains a great place to eat. It's not the least expensive place... in town, but you're going to get a good meal. My wife had the jambalaya special containing andouille sausage, shrimp, oysters, crabmeat, okra, tomatoes, celery ,onions and a little rice. She had to ask for a leftover box. I have sampled Shrimp and gritsin many restaurants between VA and FL, and everyone has their own take. This was different from previous places I've ordered. The grits were in a block with about a dozen large Shrimp, strips of pork, onions, and a LOT of mushrooms. The sauce was lightand while it was pretty good, it didn't have enough sauce and a few too many mushrooms for what I'm used to. The Salads aresmall but have a decent selection of ingredients. They also give you some outrageous muffins and they proudly state they aremade with lard. Oh well, I'm gonna die happy. Read more

To be fair, my dinner choices were limited due to my desire for oysters on the half shell. Several calls around?., not on the... menu tonight I?m told. Grilled local fish might take its place I bet? The wife enjoyed her beef tenderloin filet, that wasseasoned perfectly I admit. But my fish was tough ?grouper?, and the side was cold when delivered. Love the restaurant, andshould be experienced when in town! But mine was not the best of this trip. Read more
