On my most recent visit to this locally owned A & W Restaurant, we ordered our food through a phone at the table which was... really cool, and our shakes we're brought out to us really quickly even with how busy they we're. I was working up an appetite all day not having eaten in 13 hours. Decided I would check out the local A&W to show my undying... commitment to the American fast food culture and its quick hunger fix. Here's my two cents: 1.) I see why the drinks are sosugary. It's to mask the extreme salt content inside all your solid foods.. even after going 13 hours without food, any otherfood would have satisfied. The sodium level is just a tad much. It failed to hit the spot, where in any other occasion itwouldn't have. 2.) I thought I was getting a deal when I pulled out my local grocery store coupon for a dollar off any combomeal at A&W good until 09/22. I was still charged the full price. Cashier never bothered to hand me a receipt after fussingwith me about paying to get rid of some of my change, pointing out she was not good at math.. I never knew you needed to begood at math to punch digits into a cash register.. 3.) Since it was my first time at an A&W, I didn't know my way around themenu. Cashier tells me I could swap out the fries for any other side. She never bothered to inform me of the upcharge that camewith doing that, which she simply could have done by pointing at the appropriate section for it on the menu. So I was stuckwith extremely salty chili cheese fries and a normal drink, because I wasn't diverted to the menu section which would haveshowed me I could have upgraded for a root beer shake instead of my fizzy drink. Oh, welllll. 4.) The food took forever tocome out. I think they may have had to make new chili or whatever, but still.. It took way too long.. the mood was notchill-y? (no pun intended), because the store was being ran poorly. Not to mention how crowded it was both inside and out.. However, to give them some slack, I would say since it was late in the evening, the workers may have simply been "over it" orsimply not caring about anything anymore. We used the drive up and I placed my order, but apparently they didn't hear me so I waited awhile and then had to re-order. The... food was sub par.. The strawberry limeade tasted like pure sugar with a little bit of strawberries and lemons. We should havegone to the Mexican restaurant, but my husband really wanted A&W's rootbeer. Read more
Great burgers and chicken around. They serve the great burgers that are known as the A and W. We have been going to this one... for many years and have not changed the food. Still the great tasting burgers. Also try the chicken strips, they are greattoo. Try the onion rings they are great and fixed just right My wife loves the bacon cheese burger with fries. I like the papaburger with fries. The food was delicious and awesome. ???????????????????? Went here today and we both got the #5 Combo withRootbeer. It was delicious and good. I pulled up ordered 4 fish dinners, a large fry, a large strawberry shake! What I got was a large strawberry shake, large fry,... and a 4 peace chicken strip! Nope no fish dinners wow and they made me pay for the chicken, that I didn't order, and placedanother order for the 4 fish dinners, you would have thought they would correct their mistakes and put my order in the front ofthe line, wrong again had to wait another 30 minutes! Came to Sweet Home with my husband as he was purchasing an item from someone off Facebook Marketplace. We decided to eat there... for dinner. I've only been to Sweet Home once or twice but didn't walk around or eat, just drove through. This trip since wedecided to eat I did some looking and narrowed it down to two places, Point Restaurant and A&W. I'd never ate at either. Once wegot there we discussed both options and decided on Point as they had more options and the food looked amazing! When we got therethey were busy. We went inside and looked at the seating and it didn't appear there was room and they seemed slammed. We decidedto go to A&W but we will defintely be back to try Point Resturant. When we pulled up to A&W there was plenty of seating andparking. We walked in and were greeted by an associate who explained how the ordering works. Classic Rock to Motown was playingover the speakers and each booth has a black telephone. When you're ready to order you press a button and an associate picks upand takes your order. I thought that was cool. It was my first time eating at A&W and my husband was about 8 years old the lasttime he ate there at the same location. So it was bitter sweet for us to create a new memory together. After looking over theorder we both got the Double Mushroom Onion Melt combo added bacon and instead of a soft drink we both added an A&W float for.99 each. The food was amazing! And both fries and burger were cooked at the perfect temperature. Sometimes when you eat allyour fries by the time you get to your burger it's either lukewarm or cold. This was not the case. We sat and enjoyed our foodconversing between bites and once finished my husband ordered a coney dog, it looked so good but I had to refrain myselflol. Overall great experience and I'm glad we decided to eat at the Sweet Home A&W. I see there is one in Florence and we willdefintely be trying that location as well. If you haven't been you must!
