Nice place, will try the food next visit.
My family and I have ordered here quite a few times and have had hit or misses. For the most part, the food is good. It's so... much better when you order in house rather than taking out. I recently ordered loaded nachos and I was very disappointed withwhat I received. It was pretty much a handful of chips with a small spoonful of dip for $9.. The place looks nice, central bar, wood all around, prayers and things on the walls, though the cushion seats could use a... revamp, for the price I'd have expected no tears in the covers. Pizza was very well made, could use some more seasonings but thedough was great and the cheese abundant, sauce was sweet enough and nice coverage, very well balanced. The waffle fries wherethe perfect mix of crisp creamy and flavorful... though the cheese was a little cup of cheese mix on the side, not what Idesired nor expected, I thought the cheese would be melted on top, not a sauce mix. The sauces I got to make up for that wereamazing, thoroughly delicious, cajun bbq and hot honey mustard, whoa! Perfect mix of sweet, spicy and a mid kick of hot betweenboth! My service dog was allowed in during off peak hours on the conditions she stay calm, not bark, use the loo or bother othercustomers. First time here, nice place. We were outside under the tent as the inside was crowded which is a testament to the food, staff... and owner. Ordered the Fried Pickles, they were very lightly coated, served fast and hot. Blue Cheese and Bacon Burger wasgood, served with homemade potato chips. Chicken Cheese steak had large pieces of chicken. Waiter asked if we wanted pepper,onions and mushrooms. You might think think would be standard on a cheese steak but these are additional add-ons at 60centsapiece. Was recommended to Murphy's for their wings. Have to say WOW- some of the valley's best wings. Will be back to try pizza and... other menu options next. If you like wings they have plenty of sauce options and more being added often so check daily featured/ specials on their Facebook page. Read more
For those of you who lived in the general area in the 90s, Murphy's Pub is the former Boylan's Pub. I didn't get to Swoyersville... too often due to its distance from me, and that remains true today. The funny thing is that I actually didn't know Murphy's Pubwas formerly Boylan's even though I had been there a few times. I'm not a big wing connesieur but do enjoy them on occasion.Several years ago, I searched for wing options and Murphy's Pub caught my attention. I like hot wings, not necessarily the kindwhere you regret your decision making prowess after eating them, but more so the hot flavor of years gone by. I think whatpeople call hot now are medium of years gone by. I'm not a big fan of sauces that use tomato based products such as ketchup ormarinara sauce and like my wings extra crispy and dry with hot sauce on the side. The reason I get them dry is that they staycrispy throughout the meal. The attached image shows six wings with two blue cheese and celery sides, which isn't typical. Thiswas on a Thursday night and whomever cooked the wings did a perfect job. They weren't mushy or overcooked. I've had other foodhere can't remember what I ordered, so I don't have additional recommendations. I do remember that whatever I had was good, andthere were no issues. I visited Murphy's Pub probably 12 - 15 times in the past 2 years (2020 doesn't count) and recommend thatyou give them a try if you're in the area. Read more
