I've been here multiple times so this review ain't based on a one-off. For one it seems impossible to get them to answer the... phone for a late night carryout order these days. The last time I was able to successfully order a late carryout here, there wasa hair wrapped inside my burrito dinner. One of the most recent times I called, someone intentionally picked up the phone,dialed two buttons and left the phone off the hook. The time was around two hours before close. On at least two occasions I'venoticed a hair in my food. Coupled with raising prices, probably done for good. Use to be better. Read more
Was 4 star about 3 years ago now one is to many Let?s start with the staff who will walk by you multiple times and not even... acknowledge you.when calling to place an order No one answers the phone called 4 times no one picks up had to dive there andplace order in person very annoying and frustrating ending up waiting over 45 minutes when the restaurant was empty ???? Forsome reason prices keep going up and changing. The older Mexican lady who is there during the day time hours I feel cheats onprices when she takes my order it?s always more than when someone else does ( we get that same stuff every time ) so it?s alwaysmore when she?s the one dealing with us very weird don?t like it also don?t like that we pay $50 bucks for such small portionsof food ! The last three times I?ve tried to order food from here, nobody has ever once answered the phone after multiple calls. Last time... I went in after nobody answered, all ordered was a tub of the salsa (my wife?s favorite), not a single person was in therestaurant and it took over nearly 20 minutes for just salsa. My old neighbor Mr. Lopez was a manager here a couple years agoand during his time, this was our favorite Mexican restaurant in the surrounding area. Ordered take out. Wife went to pick it up. It was raining. Wife slipped on the fell on the slick wet tile floor in-between the... entry doors. Restaurant personnel asked I'd she was okay, but didn't really seem that concerned. No rug or mat of any kind tokeep their customers safe. Won't be going back. Read more
Staff was friendly and extremely attentive, and the food was delicious. The bathrooms are in disrepair, and the credit card... reader was down. But, they did have a big sign up saying the card reader was down and there is an ATM nearby. This was ourfirst visit here and we'll definitely go back Read more
Ate there often. Enjoyed the food. Was in recently, was the only person in the entry area. Both the host and a waiter walked... past me multiple times, neither offered to seat me. A couple walked in and ware seated immediately. They have lost a once aweek customer. Will eat at the sister restaurant in Machesney Park. Read more
Edit: 12-18-21- I am so disappointed. This is my last visit. The service was absolutely horrible. I was sitting at the bar and I... had to go to the hostess stand three different times to ask for my server. Even as I was ready to leave, I proceeded to thehostess stand without my check. The place was practically empty. I can?t imagine what they were doing. My Carnitas were alsodisappointing tonight. Normally they are large chunks that are tender and juicy, but tonight they were a bunch of bits andpieces that looked like dog food. Breaks my heart that this place is no longer awesome. Going to Los Rancheros from nowon. ???????????? From years ago when I gave it four stars. I enjoy this restaurant. I come here quite often. The Carnitas areamazing! The chips are usually warm when they bring them to the table. The salsa is good. But I always ask for the extra spicysalsa to complement the flavor of the original. Unfortunately, the refried beans are a bit bland. They are vegetarian. I?msorry, but you need lard to make good refried beans. The rice has a good flavor. Be sure to check them right away to make surethey?re hot. The regular margaritas are tasty, but I suspect not very strong. I would recommend buying an extra shot and pouringit in or get the specialty margarita. The service is good. The atmosphere is very nice. Read more
Asked for a few extra sides of sour cream.. tried to tell my wife $8. With an absolutely straight face. For the tiny little side... containers that have maybe 2/3 tablespoons of sour cream. EIGHT DOLLARS. ???????????????????? That is not a typo. My wife leftthe sour cream.. they can keep it. And now we will never return again. And neither should you. It?s the principal of the thing.How ridiculous is that? Lose a local customer for life over .50 cents worth of sour cream.. Read more
