I visited George White on a date night and I must say, one of the best restaurants I’ve visited on Long Island! Manhattan... quality food away from the crowds and hassle of getting to the city! First time eating here for restaurant week. The service was excellent, great atmosphere and good food. We had the regular and... short ribs, muscles, carrot cake and cannoli for desert. The food was prepared well however it was missing the wow factor. Nothing overly flavorful or seasoned. I was a bit disappointed but all and all a good dinner and experience. Read more
12am Update: I did contact Doordash on this matter to make it right. Furthermore, why would the order be ready in 5-10 minutes... when the order was requested to be ready by 845pm? The order was specifically requested to be ready by 845pm and yet therestaurant neglected to pay attention to what was clearly requested if it was ready a few minutes after it was ordered. Why wasthe order ready nearly an hour before then? The owner's argument is severely flawed when I had taken the proper steps bycontacting Doordash to make things right. The owner problem should be with Doordash and not with me. One should not accusesomeone of "playing a game" without finding out the full details of what had occurred. This restaurant clearly has failed inthis regard among other things. Let the people decide for themselves who they will believe for I have only stated the facts.YOU'RE WELCOME! Original Review: I would give negative stars for my experience if it was possible. I made an online order andhad to cancel the order due to ordering the wrong entree. Submitted a new order shortly after with the correct entree. I made anew order with the correct entree and the restaurant refused to fulfill the new/second order claiming that they had to throwaway the first order because it was already completed, which seems to likely not be possible because the first order wascancelled a couple of minutes after the mistake was made. The restaurant should have communicated to me if they had startedmaking the order. I would have kept the original order if they had started making the order and not waste food. The restaurantassumed I was making fake orders, which is completely untrue and I was falsely accused. The restaurant made it seem like theorder was ready and made my wife go there to pick up the order only to find out that the restaurant did make it at all. My family had a great experience here. We sat at the bar and enjoyed the hospitality of the owner's Cathy and Frank, as well as... Frank's sister Finette. They couldn't be nicer and made us feel at home. Cathy made great cocktails. I enjoyed the LeecheMartini and my dad loved his Classic Gin Martini. As for food, my wife and I split the Swiss Cheese Burger which was deliciousand for dessert a very tasty chocolate cake! Throughout our time there we enjoyed wonderful conversations with Cathy, Frank andFinette. It was obvious that they loved what they do and care about their customers. We will definitely be back! Absolutely delicious, manhattan dining on the island. I learned that it is a family owned business, and everyone we encountered... was so kind and accommodating from start to finish.
