Our dinner experience was very nice. We didnt have a reservation but arrived right whrn they opened, the staff seemed concerned... about us wanting a table without one but sat us anyway. I thought this was starnge because it was a monday at 4pm but theresturant slowly got busier and busier as time went on. I appreciated them seating us even though they knew they'd be busy. Iordered a dirty martini but failed to mention that I wanted gin, not vodka. I felt horrible when she brought me one with vodkaand told her I wasn't going to be able to drink it, they also dont carry gin at the bar, whichi found strange. The waitress wasincredibly kind and apologized and took it off the bill. The food was very tasty especially the scallops, olives and crabcakes.The lobster ravioli was... disappointing. I felt the sauce was over powering and would fit much better with something morehearty like chorizo. We got the Chambord dessert and it tasted tacky and fake. The top layer of chocolate was delicious but thepink layers were pff tasting. Overall it was a great dinner and we loved the restaurant, we'll definitely be back. Read more
Excellent food and service! If you're looking for authentic Italian food, you MUST check this place out and make sure you see... Julie for the most friendly and excellent service. Everytime she served us with a smile! And the Risotto, which is my favorite,was in at least 3 different entrees (Major points!!). You don't see that in your average Italian restaurant. But this placeis not average. And the atmosphere was great as well. Music was very low (the way I like it). Cloth table covers and chairs. Intimate setting, not like some of the big open spaced places. Brought my whole family and each one loved their meal! Pleasing everyone is not easy to do. We will definitely be back. Absolutely amazing! Mark was fantastic as well as the whole staff! My husband and I?s 1 year wedding anniversary and we decided... to give a new place a try! Wow, The Grotto..should not be missed. My husband and I walked in, without a reservation, and eventhough it was very busy the... owner took us to a nice table that felt very private and intimate. Julie, our server, introduced herself and quickly got us thehottest fresh bread with seasoned oil. Loved it...we placed our drink and dinner order and our drinks arrived right away. Winewas fantastic and just the right temperature for perfect flavor. Julie was very nice and attentive. I must say the best thingabout the visit wasn't the atmosphere or the service..it was the food! Top notch chicken parm and chicken riggies. The chickenwas hot and tender and the sauce was perfectly flavored. The four stars was only because the salad didn't come till after theentree. This was our first time trying Grotto and it was amazing! The service was so smooth and the staff was extremely kind, courteous,... and accommodating. The food was absolutely delicious and so fresh. First time eating here. Small place bar area separate from dining area. All of the staff were very friendly and accommodating.... For appetizer we had cold water clams it was amazing. For entrees we had scallops and fillet mignon it was excellent. Reasonableprice. Julie, our waitress provided great service. We will return! Read more
Great dinner spot AND open on Mondays unlike most restaurants. Had a nice dinner here for my daughter's birthday on Monday. I... have to start with the service - Mark took care of us and did he ever. GREAT job, Mark, thank you. Attentive, knowledgeable andeven passionate about the dishes being served. Everything was very good. Some of the BEST warm and fresh dinner bread to startas well.
