Had high hopes for this place. Ordered a large collard greens and a large black eye peas. First off definitely not large. ... Came in small prep containers and definitely not enough for 2 people. Neither had any flavor…just bland. No salt noseasoning of any kind. We had to add a lot of seasoning to make both more palatable. Found maybe 1 small shred of turkey inthe greens. The broth in both was clear like water. On the plus side peas were soft and greens tender Read more

I found this restaurant on line and figured I would give it a try. I\'m very happy I did. The red snapper was on point cooked... perfectly. The chicken wings were the best I\'ve had in a long time. Granted it was about a 30 minute wait, which is to beexpected when you are dealing with chicken that is being cooked fresh to order. The sides were on point as well (greens and redbeans and rice). I highly recommend this place. Read more

I’ve been struggling on whether to post this review, but it’s necessary. Customer service was nice, the owners were very... personable. Now to the food, firstly there was a general lack of seasoning, from the fried chicken to the black eyed peas. Iknew it was something when we got in the car and didn’t smell anything. For the chicken, the grease needed to be changed, andthere was no spice. Macaroni and cheese was literally elbow mac and cheese, seasoning completely absent. It was almost like thegreen and black eye peas were just boiled for about 45 minutes or so. My greens were actually still crunchy and the water onthem looked clear, no sign of seasoning or smoked turkey. Yams were far from candied. Also, a traditional southern restauranthas red drink, and bread(cornbread or roll) is apart of the meal. What I can say is that they are using traditional southernAfrican American foods, but they are not cooked in the traditional way. My mom came to visit me while here on assignment and wewere pretty sad, our expectations as Alabamians were way too high. My $5 nehi was the highlight. Read more

Delicious! I enjoyed the food through and through I’m from the south and I wish their greens had some more umph. They’re... salted but maybe some additional spices and spiciness. I think the smokiness could be intensified as well. The catfish was goodsome pieces too salty and I wish their was additional spices in there too. The sweet potato’s were delicious and the friedchicken was standard but nothing outstanding. I think more distinctive flavors instead of just standard salting would help thefood stand out more. All In all it was still enjoyable but I think their food could really pack a punch with a few changes. Read more

My fiancé and I have frequented many restaurants in the Tacoma area to find good soul food. This restaurant is our last... stop!! The catfish was coated lightly and seasoned perfectly! The chicken wings were the actual size and not greasy. Myfavorite was the macaroni and cheese!! Cheesy and full of flavor to die for. I highly recommend checking this place out, youwon’t be disappointed. REMEMBER your food is made fresh and worth the wait! Congratulations D&D for providing great food andfriendly customer service to our community! We look forward to our next visit ?? Read more

My husband and I have been looking for good authentic soul food since we moved here from Louisiana and haven’t found anything... that could even come close until today!!! The catfish was seasoned and fried perfectly! The pork chop was juicy and very wellseasoned. The collard greens…AMAZING!!! I haven’t had collard greens like that since I was living back home. The cornbread, the Mac n cheese…I mean EVERYTHING was DELICIOUS!! The portion sizes are nice and filling. But what I loved most was the vibeof this place! You feel welcomed from the moment you walk in. Maria is so friendly, she’s attentive, and very welcoming. Ilove me some good customer service and if you can provide that AND some good ole soul food, then you have my business for life!My only regret is that I didn’t know about this place sooner. But, now that I do, I’m telling all my family and friends herein WA about it! Thank you DND for such a delicious dinner! ???? Read more
