Staff if so so *so* friendly and helpful. The bartender took time to bring my hub up to the bar and talk over their selection of... both Whiskey and Tequila to find the perfect ones for him. Food was delicious and they have all sorts of options. 10/10 wouldrecommend! Read more

Fun place to have some lunch. The vibe is perfect during the day. Half bar, half family seating. Menu is reasonably priced. The... staff was nice and hard-working. I ordered a Bacon Burger and got a regular burger. I only got charged for the regularcheeseburger so the mistake wasn't too bad. It tasted like a normal burger from a bar, nothing special. Parking is limited onthis block. I will be returning to try the French dip and do some homework. Read more

One word. Chicken and jojos. Had other stuff of course. Always reliable. Good beer selection on tap. Great staff. Gets pretty... crowded so we go early and walk on the waterfront after. Believe it is one of the oldest buildings in the north end and we'llworth giving it a go. Won't break your wallet either. Read more

I had beer battered cod; no complaints. Wife asked for salmon pita, but served on gluten free bun only to be told they were out.... Ordered garden salad with salmon added, which they were able able to produce. When the bill came, drink prices were ok, but mealprices rang up above menu prices. Server was not able to explain. Our first trip here. We LOVED this place! We came in for a weekday lunch, guided there by good reviews. We were not... disappointed. The food was great, the beer cold, and it wasn't too loud or too crowded. The best bit: Our server! Sorry, wecan't recall his name now, but he was fantastic. He was cheery, not too intrusive, helpful, and ever so friendly and a goodgiggle. We will be back, Spar! Cheers! Read more

I have been coming to the Spar for over 25 years, as well as my extended family and many of my longtime Tacoma friends. I have... always raved about the spectacular service, committed and loyal employees, and the amazing food. The one thing that always stoodout was the consistency in both food quality and delivery, and friendly customer service. My visit today as well as my past 2-3visits unfortunately was a disappointment. I was going to take the time and write a review in hopes that the owner would read itand see it as an opportunity to make improvements. However, after reading more than 30 reviews that have previously been writtenover the last 6 months, the owners response to any negative reviews was either defending poor customer service, or mediocre foodquality. It was very apparent that the owners responses was defending anything that was not deemed positive. I realized that Iwould be wasting my time sharing the details about my below average experience. This is very sad to me because this is exactlyhow small businesses fail over time and how long time committed customers will slowly find a new favorite restaurant where theycan be assured to have both great service and quality food. I am a professional, and I understand the challenges of therestaurant industry today as well as challenges in finding quality employees right now. But, it?s a shame when the owner doesn?tseem to welcome anything but positive commendations from her customers. This will eventually lead to a loss of customers and adying business. I really miss the previous Spar owner (Kathy). She most definitely knew how to run a successful restaurantbusiness, how to retain long-time quality employees, and how to ensure consistency with both food quality and customer service. She listened to the feedback from her customers and welcomed it, recognizing it as an opportunity to make things better. Shewas very friendly, engaging, and hands on. She knew what was going on in her restaurant and Read more

Nice location over looking the Bay. Gorgeous shined wood floors and lots of Ambiance. I came for the live music to check out a... friend and the accoustics were so warm and full, the bar area where the music is towards the back with a straight view of thePuget Sound. Intimate living room vibe, great music and while the food looked good on the menu I was trying to avoid fried foodand ordered a salmon pita sandwich with a healthy side of coleslaw. Unfortunately the sandwich already had a heavy dose ofcoleslaw the same untangy coleslaw on it, and to be honest I think I made a mistake..I regret not trying their specialtyseasoned house fries and burger! Fun place to soak up the Pacific Northwest Ambiance on a rainy spring night, order a meal anddrink with friends, family or on your own. The staff were welcoming and nice. Appears to have two bars and plenty space, sostop by enjoy the ole historic T-Town vibe. Check Their website for updates on live music shows. Read more

Try the bear battered cod, the fried zucchini and the halibut. It was all delicious. And the view was exceptional.
