This is no ordinary Chinese restaurant….. not American Chinese, not traditional Chinese… more like a Chinese Fusion. First... it’s location- unusual location for an upscale restaurant. It’s located in North Dale Mary across Al Lopez Park where Popand Sons diner used to be located. It has a diner look inside with diner type tables and chairs. The decoration was quiteeclectic. Service was fast but personable. Our waiter gave excellent suggestions. Food was very flavorful. We ordered theSalt and Pepper shrimp. It was perfectly cooked and seasoned. A small bowl of rice accompanied it which helped because it wasspicy. The pork ribs came with a coconut flavored sauce which gave the Smokey flavor a nice twist. I was a little disappointedwith the lamb dumpling. It came late when we were almost finished with our meal. The stuffing was dense and the wrapper was abit doughy. The best part of our meal was the Yangzhou Fried Rice. It had plenty of shrimp and was quite delicious. Unfortunately, they had very limited options for desserts( chocolate ice cream with Irish cream and mandarin oranges in a bowl)so we decided to have dessert somewhere else. I will definitely go back and try their other dishes. It was quite pricey butworth it. Looking forward to doing the tasting menu or the Peking duck. Read more
Say hello to South Tampa’s hottest new restaurant. Came here with the family on Wednesday for dinner after hearing great... things about the place. Gotta say I’ve never had a Chinese food experience like this. Hales brings a level of service,ambiance and attention to detail rarely found in conjunction with authentic Szechuan Chinese food. Amazing dinner last night at the new Hales Blackbrick Chinese in Tampa. First time in a very long time I’ve had such excellent... Asian-inspired cuisine, and the service was first class. One of the Top Restaurants in Tampa. Chef Hales and his wife have put together something special here and will be a huge part of... the upscale dinning scene for many years to come. I can say this is hands down one of the best meals I have had in a while. Iwas truly impressed at everything we had. So much flavor and you can tell the level of effort behind everything that came out ofthe kitchen. I 100% will be back many times. Glad to welcome a new great chef to the Tampa Bay area. Had to try this new spot on Dale Mabry. Was not disappointed. Service was exceptional. Our server Bailey was just outstanding.... Food and drinks were superb. Had the Blackbrick Tower, to die for, Dan Dan Noodles, and Young Chicken Noodles.also tried thesoft serve, graciously on the house. We will definitely be back. Read more
First of all I gotta say is that the food is actually amazing. Everything was cooked to perfection, the chicken was crispy, the... lamb was tender and juicy. One of the best restaurant in Tampa for Chinese food. The dumpling was served after the main dishwhich was strange but it was acceptable since they are just opened and I expected mistake happen. However, the main reason why Igave 2 stars is because we order a "Miss Lily" mocktail which supposed to be non-alcoholic. The drink taste nice however wenoticed the bitter taste of alcohol but we thought it was normal and it is how it is supposed to be. When we finished, I felt atingling sensation and nausea, my face turned extremely red and I started to get headache. I let my girlfriend drive me home.Last night, we both get migraines headache and diarrhea till the moment I write this review. I never have any allergic/ reactionto anything beside alcohol. Read more
