Simply one of the best pizzas in L.A.! Working out of a small ghost kitchen in Canoga Park, Social Pies presents big flavor and... excellent dough from a small 200 sqft (? maybe...) kitchen. The Chicago style might be better described as a deep dish stuffedpizza, boasting excellent sauce and fantastic dough. We bought a Chicago veggie first. There is only one size pie sold - fourslices - but I didn't know that as my fiancee made the purchase. When we opened the box, I have to admit that we were like, "Oh...$25 for an individual pie? Ok..." Resigned that we were going to have to order something additional from somewhere else, wesat down and dug in. Fact is, yeah, the pies look small but my fiancee could only eat one slice! I felt honor-bound to eat thelast three, but it wasn't an easy task. Not because it wasn't delicious - it was - but because it was so filling. We enjoyedthe pizza so much, we decided to get two pies the following night (pictured) but to mix up the styles. I saw a review sayingthe the toppings were skimpy on a Chicago Meat Pie. When I open the box and looked at it, I agreed. Then I bit into it andfound it was chock full of meat. This is a stuffed pizza and a lot of the meat was in the middle of the pie. While it wasn'tvisually obvious it was clear as day once you bit into it. Not sure what that reviewer was describing because it wasn't myexperience at all. The Detroit style - my fiancee's favorite - was good, but I am all about the Chicago style now. The cheesethey use is like velvet. Oh, the Meat Pie is very unique in that all the meat is beef- it even has beef bacon (which I havenever heard of before and seeing it listed prompted me to make a phone call to verify). Overall, this place is excellent! Ican't wait to see what they grow into and I will be waiting for the Brick and Mortar that surely is going to follow. Read more
