We happened upon Big Al's for a very early dinner. We ordered some appies and entrees to share - the portions were massive and... the food was excellent. The service was wonderful- the server was efficient and kind, our food came quickly, and it was awonderful experience. It was so nice to sit out on the patio- the umbrella gave those who wanted shade just that and thesun-lovers enjoyed the heat. Read more

We are staying in Tatamagouche so we thought we would try Big Al's for supper. We were not only impressed with the meal but by... the person who waited on us. My partner had the clams and chips which were tasty and I had the 1pc fish and chips. A 1 piece isplenty for a meal and quite tasty. Raylee was the best server that we have had in many years. Perhaps I've become oversensitive to stimulus since the pandemic hit but yikes it is loud inside Big Al's! This was our first... sit down dinner with friends in over two years. It would have been nice to hear them. This is tavern style eating but for thefamily. The service was good. The restaurant is clean and well kept. Our server was polite and efficient. The food wassatisfactory in that the portions were good, and we did get what we ordered, but there seemed to be something lacking. My fishtacos were very full of greens but the fish pieces were small and entirely too salty. I'm a bit of a fish taco purist, so thelemon mayo was not to my liking... I'm on team chipotle ranch sauce with lime wedges 100%. Although the menu said there were tobe jalapeños on the tacos, none were found. I seriously regret not ordering the wings... they looked really good. Don't dothe donair bites... drive to Halifax and have a proper donair. I will be back though! Next try will be the chowder. Amazing well prepared meals. Huge portions. Perfectly seasoned and fresh. Our server was delightful,friendly,fun and... attentive.I highly recommend this restaurant.the lobster bisque was rich and delicious,the ginger beef stir fry was perfect. Andthe sticky toffee cake was ,,( I was told ,) the best ever . It's well worth the drive from any neighbouring community. Theprices very reasonable considering the quality quantity of food.it is one place we will certainly go back to often. Highlyrecommended. Read more

Seafood platter for 2 was delicious! Nova Scotia beer and cider, if you'd like. Wonderful local entertainment. Great wait staff.... Only slight disappointment was no locally made dessert. (I always prefer to support local). Otherwise A1 and great fun on aFriday night! Read more

We went as a group of 19 with the Mustang Outlaws of Nova Scotia. The service was great and the food delicious. I had a 1 piece... haddock and poutine, my husband had the Big Al burger with poutine it was all we could do to finish our meals. This was thefirst time we had ever been there.
