I attended an 18-birthday party at Mel?s and they handled it wonderfully! Boy the location and the physical layout... (inside/outside) were ideal for a summer get together. I though the food met my expectations, but I admit, I don?t eat burgers. Nice that they had many other things on the menu including a pulled chicken sandwich served in a baguette ( great!) and a crispychicken sandwich ( not as good as the pulled chicken sandwich). Those were also the best pretzels I?ve ever had. The absolutebest part was the customer service. The staff was accommodating to our needs, patient, friendly, and did all they could to makesure the guests had a nice time. I?ll return when I?m in Tenafly again! Read more
Nice little burger joint in the center of Tenafly. Ordered the Butcher Box Classic (6oz burger) and the Crispy Onion Rings... side. The Onion Rings are AMAZING! This is a must for anyone visiting. The burger was not greasy, but was uninspiring as itdidn?t have any distinctive flavor. It was topped with American cheese and pickles. There were no onions, lettuce, tomato,ketchup or mustard. The team was welcoming, friendly and patient as we decided on our order. The inside seating areas wereclean and well kept. Decor is up to date and attractive. There are two arcade style video games to help pass the time whilewaiting on your order. Outside seating has umbrella's for those hot afternoons. Ordered take out from Mel's for the first time today. The cheese steak was loaded with high quality meat and was big enough to... split with my wife. Onion rings were probably one of the best I have ever had. Service could have been a little friendlier butI went there for the food and would definitely go back. Read more
Amazing food and great service. Mel is so friendly and thoughtful and treats her customers wonderfully. Had the shamrock shake... (shake of the month) and corned beef sandwich on rye. So fresh and delicious. Highly recommend. A bonus Mel was giving away Tshirts and I got this adorable shirt for free. Read more
Cool little spot. They have an old school juke box and pin ball machines. The mozzarella sticks were unlike any other mozzarella... stick I've had, definitely worth a try- didn't love the vodka sauce that came with it. The burgers were fine. If you like PatLaFrieda burgers you should like these. The fries were similarly unspectacular. Overall definitely worth checking out. Read more
5 star for quality of food. 3 star for price. We ordered steak fritas but substituted with sweet potatoes fries. A Caesar... salad and a tomahawk ribeye steak. It's not on the menu, but it was in the cooler so I asked if they could make it and theydid. All the food was delicious. The steak fritas had a somewhat sweet marinade, but not overly. Fries were crispy outsideand soft inside. I would have preferred the steak fritas served European style in multiple servings so the steak stays hot andthe fries stay crispy. Salad was typical but a little over dressed. The tomahawk was cooked just right. It was seasoned withrosemary. They must have a hot grill or oven because the outside was chared perfect while the inside was medium rare. Thetomahawk was served with fries that were cut unique. The were cut long and also flat and wide. Seems to stay more crispy andmakes it perfect for dipping and scooping sauce. Food is served like a bar b que joint on metal trays with plastic forks andknives. Even the steak fritas was served on a small paper / cardboard tray. Soda is served in the small coke bottles. Verypricey for 6 oz of soda. I know it's all part of the motif, but for the price we paid, I'd prefer metal silverware and a largerdrink. Though the food was very good, the price makes it unappealing. I may take out of town guest there for the novelty. I'll stick to one of the numerous local steak joints in the neighborhood where you get sit down service at the table.. Read more
The staff were super nice and the atmosphere had a chill yet fun vibe about it. The food was not only good, but you could tell... everything was fresh. We were even talking about how good the bread was. We tried the sliders, cheese steak, double burger,onion rings, fried ravioli, and pretzel. The fresh potato chips were a pleasant surprise add on that everyone couldn't stopeating. Definitely worth a visit. Read more
I had the double burger with grilled onions and special sauce, and I can't lie... Probably one of the best burgers I ever had.... The beef patty was so good. The grilled onions were perfect. The fries were hot and crispy. The onion rings were great. Thechocolate milkshake was rich. Chocolate chip cookie is great. Service was great, they are super nice and friendly. I will tryto cheese steak next time. This place is a problem for my health, I can't eat burgers and steak all the time but I won't stop.I'm here for a good time, not a long time.
