We used to love this place and went there frequently. 2 visits ago we were told rudely to move our truck for the saloon parking.... 2 people with us were handicapped. Then we were told the table we picked was for parties of 8. We were a party of 7. Kindabizarre seeing that the place was pretty empty. Then, our last visit Jackie had her usual, fried clams and got very sick on theway home that lasted for days. We are done with Happy Clam. Read more

One word? YUMMY!! For real? if you want seafood or German food, either way it will be amazing. I have enjoyed the Clam since... they first opened and I haven?t had a bad meal there yet. My fave is still the Jager schnitzel, but they really know how to doa prime rib too? and the seafood? so favorite dishes will be hard to choose here. Good food, good people, good service? what?snot to love? If you haven?t been to the Happy Clam yet? you?re missing out. Worth the beautiful drive. Read more

My family and I have been visiting Tenants Harbor every summer for over 10 years and we look forward to the Happy Clam each... year. It?s become a tradition for us, even more important than Marshall Point lighthouse or Drift In beach. The drinks arealways cold, the food is always great, and the new bar in the back is fantastic. I highly recommend a night of Karaoke! Read more

The german food here is outstanding! I got the crab roll and ended up not liking it very much but I took a few bites off of the... other plates at my table and the german food was crazy good! Definitely go for the jeager schnitzel and then finish off with theblueberry ice cream. The staff was awesome and the chef was super nice too! Read more

We met some friends for dinner at the Happy Clam. It was a very interesting place, right down to the working rotary phone. The... menu is a mix of seafood and German dishes, which we were eager to try. The attentive waitress recommended the schweinshaxe, awhole pork shoulder slow cooked and briefly deep fried to crisp the outside. It was served with spaetzle and red cabbage. Thepork was delicious, flavorful & tender. The red cabbage was also delicious, the spaetzle was an unusual yellow and bland. Theyalso had German beers. Next time we will try a seafood dish. I had a number of restaurants flagged to try on my trip to Maine. This was not one of them. I wound up here purely by... circumstance, but it was better than any of the ?recommended? restaurants at which I ate! The clam roll was phenomenal!! Greatflavor and the clams had been properly cleaned, cooked, and shucked, which is more than I can say for the ?famous? Moody?s downthe road. The service was super friendly and accommodating. Add The Happy Clam to your ?must visit? list! Read more
