We always love Umi Grill. I came here with my family last monday. We didn?t have reservations but they were able to accommodate... the 6 of us. Our server, Noah, was very friendly and accommodating. He interracted with us and made us feel at home. Theirfood is outstanding. If you ever visit Umi, try their Volcano roll, diva roll (personal fave), spicy tako, and dr. singhspecial. It?s amazing! First timer, got a take out order. Tuna cubes & ceviche, absolutely delicious. Staff was very professional and helpful, hostess... was great too. Stopped in for a quick lunch, the Sushi rolls were extremely well done, and the price was right. Service was good, understaffed... but who isn't right now? They were clearly doing the best they could, friendly, hospitable and courteous. Will stop in again. Read more
The quality of the seared tuna was phenomenal and the miso soup was very tasty. The service was good and helpful. There were a... number of tables on a weeknight. I overall felt that the restaurant was more average, but may be the best in Terra Haute,Indiana. My hot green tea was bitter in the way that it had maybe been oversteeped or made earlier kept warm. The dressing onthe seared tuna was very salty with slightly metallic tasting shrimp and underripe mango and avocado. It is a pricier restaurantbut portions are generous. Read more
Food is always good, and the staff is super nice! It's expensive but you get a good portion! I usually get the Nabeyaki Udon,... while my Fiance got the shrimp and curry with rice, all of which was super good! Terre Haute may not be my first choice for sushi, but I really think this place lives up to its hype and I would recommend it to... any sushi connoisseur. Kudos to the staff and to our waiter-- who was very knowledgeable of the menu and types of rolls served,was very polite, and checked up on us often. Portion sizes, especially on the fried rice, were very large, but that wasreflected in the price. They will ask for your heat preference and use Sriracha to kick it up. For most people they recommendthe #1 level. The Dr. Singh roll is a signature choice that I thought was tastefully created. I love cream cheese and eel sauce,so the Diva roll was my win for the night. The servers are following Covid protocols and even wear gloves when delivering foodand refilling drinks. I did not make a reservation when I visited and was seated within 10 minutes; however, it was close to 8PM when we arrived. If you're planning a date closer to "prime time-supper time," especially on a weekend night, I wouldrecommend making one. Read more
It was Our first time ever eating here. We decided to get take out and my Boyfriend was on crutches, which the staff was... extremely nice and very helpful, even carried our take out to our car for us.
